Very cold, no heating at night
When I checked in around 6 pm the room was extremely cold. I switched on the heating but it switched off at 9 pm so I had no heating all night. I had to sleep in all the clothes I had including my winter jacket.

A very CLEAN place!
This place is spot-on! Friendly, CLEAN, convenient, CLEAN, quiet, CLEAN, safe and comfortable in a residential central area. OK, it's not the most modern, but who cares when it is CLEAN. Good cooked breakfast in the morning. Oh yes, did I mention that it is CLEAN!

It's slightly old-school in decor and the location/layout was unusual but those are barely negatives at the price point. We had a twin room with shared bathroom for one night. Room was lovely and warm, beds and pillows were some of the comfiest I've slept in. The *included* breakfast was cooked to order and we were taken back - not only did we have full English, but plenty of drinks choices and snacks and all sorts!

The staff told me that you have to pay £20 by cash as washroom is shared. Who would like to share a washroom when renting a double bedroom? I paid and the receptionist even did not show the way to the bedroom. He said it was on upper floor but there is no elevator. Imagine if you are an elderly person or a person with disability and carrying luggage.

Overall, I enjoyed my stay in the lodge, they allowed me to store my luggage there after i arrived early. As well as giving direction to the laundry service. Therefore, my only complaints would be that the floor/doors were too noisy when touching them.

Easy to find, though the entrance to the parking is very narrow if you have a large saloon or SUV. Reception was easy to find, I was greeted in a friendly manner, checked in quickly and given directions to my room. The public areas smelt clean and fresh, and the room was the same. No issues with cleanliness, the room was warm and provided everything I needed - tea and coffee, good shower (not the most powerful but perfectly adequate), a comfortable bed and a working, good-size television. Plenty of space to put my bags. I didn't take breakfast but it was offered and explained where to find it if I wanted it. Would happily stay again if in the area.

Very happy with my stay at A.J. Lodge. A comfortable, clean room at an absolute bargain price. Due to a late arrival I was concerned that there might be issues on check in but the receptionist I spoke to couldn't have been more helpful. One slight issue but certainly not enough to stop me staying again. The restaurant area smelled very strongly of stale grease and this smell hit you as you walked in through the front door. It put me off having breakfast in the morning.

The rrooms were very clean and tidy. We booked a room with a shared bathroom and the bathroom areas were also verry clean and accessible. I thought the lodge was good value for money.
