Such a wonderful trip.
We were delighted with this comfortable and homey rental. The detail in the decorations is incredible. On our 6th day, we were still discovering it's amazing secrets. I wish we had more time to hear about the fascinating antiques inside the property. The host, Lou, was wonderful. She was very attentive to our needs, providing us with fresh eggs from her chickens and local blueberries without us asking. She also helped us out greatly when we had car issues. She set us up with a local car shop that fixed our issue in less than 30 minutes. While respectful of our time and space, our time spent with Lou were among our fondest memories of our trip. She is a gem! The yard, overlooking the beautiful Sooke Basin, was so quiet and peaceful and well appointed for our comfort. The east-facing yard, where it is located along the water, is sheltered and warm. While we could see the wind in the trees in front of the house, the yard was calm and comfortable. My only advice for future guests, is to trust the directions. You 100% will question them, but just keep driving until you see the house. I also have to give some credit to Charlie, the dog. He was so patient and sweet with my dog and let her get comfortable with him before he went in for a sniff. He's a very good boy. We will absolutely be back.

Beautiful spot on the water
Lorraine was a gracious host. The house was cozy, clean and comfortable. (Lots of little extras like soda stream, kayak on the water and fresh eggs). We enjoyed our stay very much.

It’s a chicken farm with free range, chickens and roosters throughout the property.
Upon arrival, we were extremely disappointed with the overall appearance. Abandon vehicles, equipment sheds and farming equipment surrounded the backyard. The front yard faces a beautiful waterfront overlooking the bay but was terribly overgrown with weeds, and totally uninviting. The owner indicated that she was not able to get around to cutting the grass, and never did during our four night stay. The large kitchen window had no curtains or blinds and looked directly onto a cluttered chicken coup and farmyard area. Additionally, the owners back porch ran along side the kitchen window, which afforded a full view into the guest quarters. Total lack of privacy from that perspective. The interior of the unit is very nicely upgraded and is accurately depicted in the Vrbo photographs. The primary objection to this listing is that it is not at all forthcoming in describing that this is what should be expected of a rural chicken farm and not a quiet and private vacation unit.

Fantastic oceanfront property - amazing views. Friendly pets!
We stayed for four nights in late May. The owner's instructions to find the place were easy to follow. It's a working small holding farm, so lots going on in the yard. There's a concrete parking pad for guests right in front of the entry. The guest house is attached, but completely self-contained. Our host was on hand to greet us, and was lovely. Accommodation was spotless, and beautiful. The beds were comfy. And I couldn't get over how quiet it was at night. We were often greeted by Charlie (the dog) and Mickey (one of the cats) when we returned. Felt just like home. The beach is right out front of the patio doors. A beautiful calm inlet (most days). The fresh eggs left for us were welcome for breakfast - and we met all the producers who were roaming the yard! The kitchen is better equipped than my own. Definitely a delightful spot for a peace and quiet getaway. Lots to do in the area too. And easy access to Victoria (about 45 minutes).

Lovely Restful Spot
We loved our stay here. Lou has artistically decorated the suite with a mixture of vintage and contemporary finds, and has added all sorts of thoughtful touches. The beachfront location was very peaceful, great for walks and paddling - but a few too many jellies for swimming the time we visited. The location is very close to the town centre as well as all the sights that Sooke has to offer. Lou was so welcoming, we will be back!

Beach Cottage in Sooke
A beautiful location with wonderful views of the Sooke Basin. Cleaning was being completed as we arrived. Owner was very helpful and knows the area well. Entrance to duplex has three steps up and the bathtub lacks safety grips. The yard is a work in progress. Fresh eggs were much appreciated.

family stay in Sooke
The location is lovely and the house has been beautifully renovated. Our host had unfortunately had a plumbing issue the day we were arriving and told us she wasn't able to fully prepare the apartment. Some of the cleaning was never finished and that was unfortunate but otherwise the place was lovely with amazing views and our host was also so kind and shared so much local information with us.

Had an amazing few days. Host was lovely, nothing was too much trouble. The property was fabulous, right on the lake where you can see bald eagles, seals and much more. We did want to leave. There are resident chickens, cats and dogs- perfect 😊

So beautiful
We just stayed at the beach house and had an amazing time. Living in the city our favourite thing was sitting outside in the morning with a cup of coffee and watching the seals splash around, sea lions swim past and the herons and eagles fly around and catch fish. Our children loved the beach area, collecting shells and pebbles. They also loved the chickens and would go find their favourite one. Inside the house was beautifully decorated and as a family we loved that it didn’t have a tv so we could properly unwind. The house has everything you need to cook, however there’s many amazing places close that you can eat out at. We absolutely loved staying here and can’t wait to come back next summer.

A million dollar view!
“Pinch me; I can’t believe what I see!” Having an ocean inlet view as your backyard doesn’t happen everyday but we had this for 3 days! Amazing! The host is incredibly friendly…& cool! Got to go kayaking on the ocean & make friends with the local swan, who paddles to her place for a treat. It was a quiet & clean retreat place; much needed after a 3-day stay in busy & noisy Vancouver. It is a Lovely and artistically decorated home. Plus we were given eggs for breakfast from the host’s chickens that are raised nearby…that was very much appreciated! Thank you so much!

Very comfortable and inviting interior of property. Unique and interesting pieces of furniture and ornaments and amazing lamps. Great views and incredible central location. So fun to see chickens walking on property. Opportunities to use boat to go out in bay but our trip requires more time to take up this option. Fantastic get away for our family.
