Amazing hosts!
Posted Feb. 24, 2018John and I had the most amazing experience in Saint Lucia January of last year. Simeone and Elma were so sweet. They made our experience unforgettable. thank you guys so much we will never forget you and most certainly we will be back even just to visit you two! We won't forget you coming to our place and cooking us a vegan meal when super markets were closed. As well as Simene driving us to Sugar Beach to make sure we had a memorable time. thank you again

Check it first
Posted Jan. 22, 2018 on ExpediaFrom the outside all is great, nice location but very close to a busy street. The manager let my wife in and there were 3 bedrooms open. My wife said she didn't need one of them and the manager locked the room. I arrived and there was NO AC in the place as it was advertised. The water turned off on our second day. The overhead fan blew out and all of the outside lights blew out as well . One of the floor fans wasn't working either. No laundry available and with a 2 year old that doesn't work at all. The stairs are tiled with indoor tile and are extremely slippery as both myself and my sister in law can attest to as we both fell.
My wife developed tonsillitis and had a temp of 103 and I simply couldn't keep her there in that heat. I ended up booking another guest house and left.
If it had AC and laundry and water I probably would have stayed .
On top of all of this the owner called me and wanted me to pay for an extra room that her manager left open for us and who actually offered us the keys to them..
Disappointing is the nicest thing I can say.

Great facilities, beautiful location outside town
Posted Mar. 20, 2015 on ExpediaThe house, rooms, and faculties are very nice. The host lady is very sweet and accommodating. The location is a beautiful setting, about 40 minutes walking inland from Soufriere. A creek in the back provides a soothing sound at night.

Don't do it.
Posted Oct. 2, 2014 on ExpediaMy boyfriend and I arrived in St Lucia and at the Riverside House (which is VERY hard to find and unless you get a local who will show you the way and ask for money in doing so then most likely you won't find it) at around 3pm. There was no sign that anyone was there so we asked some of the neighbors if they knew how to get a hold of them. They told us there should be a guy living downstairs that we could talk to and to knock on the door so thats what we did. He opened it and immediately began to tell us that the owner did not notify him anyone was coming to stay. He was nice enough to let us use his phone to call the owner, but the owner did not answer. He was hard to understand so we asked him a few more questions to which he got very angry. He said that his wife and kid were staying upstairs and that we could not stay there. We were not pushy and were just trying to understand what was going on and how after making a reservation over two months ago there was no 'sign' of us coming. He was obviously the wrong guy to ask, but after traveling for 10 hours and not knowing the area AT ALL this is not something anyone wants to have happen. Needless to say, we ended up leaving and having to find somewhere else to stay for the four nights we were supposed to stay here. We ended up paying alot more money in the process.

Lovely house but difficult to find.
Posted Jun. 3, 2014 on HotelsThe taxi driver had a difficult time finding the River Side House. A local finally rode up the hill with us to locate it. There was no sign and we located it by a picture my husband saved on his phone. Some people might be put off by the lack of air conditioning due to non-tolerance of heat, humidity or a medical condition. People from the U.S. also so love their coffee and there was no coffee maker. It was pleasant to sit on the back porch and listen to the river. The owners are quite friendly and will accommodate you as best they can. We love staying away from it all and not in a fancy resort. You just have to be tolerant to the differences in our cultures.

Lovely guesthouse

Pros: We had all th ecomforts of home. a large apartment all to ourselves.
Cons: finding the hotel was difficult on our first day- so a better address and map would be helpful
Location: It was conveniently located on a road traveling north of Soufriere. it worked well as our base to visit all the snorkeling sights near Soufriere.
we were delighted to learn that we were staying in a large apartment guesthouse rather than a hotel. the apartment had a large kitchen with all the necessary utensils so we could prepare most of our meals, saving restaurant meals as a special treat. the owners were very hospitable and made us feel quite welcome. the wrap around balcony was great for enjoying our coffee in the mornings and drinks or tea in the evenings. the sound of the river and rustle of the leaves of the surrounding rainforest was relaxing and beautiful.

Better for Someone With A Car
Posted Feb. 25, 2014 on HotelsThis place is located part way up a mountain, a couple of miles from Soufriere city center. It is really a large apartment with 3 bedrooms--suitable for 5 people--very spacious and very clean. It had a full kitchen, so would be good for someone looking to do their own cooking part of the time. However, for the short-term sightseer, it required use of the local minibus down to town, then arranging other transport to sites of interest. This is good if you like local color (which fortunately we do), but would not appeal to many people..
