OWNERS LIVE ON SITE

Our peaceful farmhouse gite is located between the pretty market towns of Sourdeval and Vire, close to the beautiful Lake Dathee and St Sever Forest and the Voie Vert. It sits on a hill with stunning panoramic views in 3 acres of beautiful grounds and an old cider orchard, with a 15' above ground splash pool - seasonal (Vire Aqua Park is just 10 minutes away), climbing frame, trampoline, football net and activity field. There's also a well equipped INDOOR PLAY ROOM, BBQ and lots of outdoor tables and chairs. The location is hard to beat – under an hour from great sandy seaside beaches and major attractions such as MONT ST MICHEL, the D-DAY LANDING BEACHES, BAYEUX, Swiss Normandy and several quality Zoos and Family Fun Parks. We're an easy drive from all the ferry ports and just over a 4 hour drive from the Tunnel at Calais and 1 hour from Caen. On our doorstep is the stunning LAKE DATHEE with a 7km cycle track around it and 18 hole golf course. Here you can fish, windsurf, kayak, enjoy a swim from the lovely sandy beach or play a round of golf. There are great cycle and walking trails around us including within the lovely ST SEVER FOREST, plus a quality hard tennis court in our local village. A car is essential as we are in a rural location and we have a garage where you can store your bikes, fishing equipment etc....AND YOU DON'T NEED TO HAVE CHILDREN TO ENJOY ALL THAT'S ON OFFER! Whether you are looking for a peaceful, rural and private retreat to recharge your batteries, or wish to have a more active stay, we have it all. If you enjoy painting or photography then our stunning views with soaring buzzards won't disappoint, and you'll be spoilt for choice with the selection of award winning restaurants nearby. If you really want to sample the local delicacies then visit one of the daily markets where you'll find amongst other things local cheese, dairy, fruit and sausages and, of course, the famous Calvados brandy! If you are golfer why not spend a day on the beautiful 18 hole course at Lake Dathee and enjoy a drink and bite to eat afterwards in the friendly clubhouse overlooking the lake. Please note that we don't generally accept more than 6 adults at a time due to the layout of the house. Owners are on site in an adjacent property to give you all the help and advice you need during your holiday.

Hidden Gem
This is my first time renting a temporary house and, based on my wonderful experience, it will not be my last. Our family group consisted of my two adult sons, two daughter-in-laws, two grandchildren (4 years old and 15 months old), my wife and I. The house easily accommodated our group (we did have another adult friend for the first two nights). The house is in a rural area of Normandy, with an awesome view of the surrounding countryside. We greatly enjoyed the outdoor grounds and the children were enthralled with the swings, trampoline, and toys provided by the hosts. The city of Vire is nearby and provided any provisions or other needs we required. The centralized location provided us easy access to our daily adventures (Saint Malo, Mont St-Michel, Bayeaux, D-Day invasion beaches, American cemetery). The hosts, Sheila and Tony, are a delight. They were never intrusive, but always available to answer our questions and provide insightful information. My one regret is that I did not have enough time to just spend an evening chatting with them. I am not prone to hyperbole; however, their place is an absolute bargain and a somewhat hidden gem. Be assured, as more people discover this place and the graciousness of the hosts, it will become more difficult to book, especially in July and August. I hope that our family can return some day!

It was more than expected. They have gone over and above to make sure they have covered all your needs for a comfortable stay. The only negative thing was there was no tv in the main lounge and that was only missed due to the bad weather when we were there. I believe that it was something to do with a poor signal in that room.

Wonderful place and lovely people.
This farmhouse is beautifully set up for multi-generational family holidays. Sheila and Tony have thought of just about everything that is needed to make a stay relaxing and enjoyable. The area is lovely with lots to do and, even during a wet October, there is enough with the house and grounds to keep everyone entertained. The fires were lovely and made the house so cosy - fabulous for a long evening meal and board games!

A lovely property, equipped to very high standard with everything we needed. Garden is huge with amazing views and lots set up for adults and children. We were a party of 9 ranging in age from 70's to 10 months. We would love to return one day and would thoroughly recommend it.

Everything was what we expected, Sheila and Tony know how to welcome you and are always on hand to help ig needed. The farmhouse is in a beautiful rural location not far from Sourdeval and Vire. We all had a wonderful and relaxing time with the farmhouse being everything you can wish for.

Amazing holiday
We’ve just spent a fantastic week at the Hillcrest farm house. Sheila and Tony were perfect hosts and the property did not disappoint! With the weather being a little cooler, we made great use of the two fireplaces. The bedrooms were all generously sized with super comfortable beds and the kitchen/dining room is a lot bigger than the photos show. Our kids loved the playroom and the adults loved the massive living room. I can’t recommend this place highly enough. The location is superb, very centrally located to all the best places in the region. Perfect for kids and families. You won’t regret booking this place!! Can’t wait to come back again soon.

Lovely peaceful cottage in hilltop location, great views.
We holidayed with our two children and another family with three young children, and we all had a fanstastic week. Sheila and Tony were wonderful hosts - on arrival we were greeted at the gate and provided with a very generous hamper of food to get us started (and the cottage itself had pretty much all the supplies one would need). They were great with the kids and always made themselves available when we had questions about the area etc. The kids really enjoyed the pool when the sun was out, and when the weather wasn’t so good we found the local (Vire, 20mins) pool with floats, toddler pool, and water slides was great value and a fun afternoon for all. There is a playground next door too. We also visited the zoo at Champrepus, which was great - like a botanical garden and zoo in one. For the kids we had a day out at Festyland - great for younger kids (and some larger rides that would keep the older ones busy too I imagine). Close to Caen, about an hour away. The cottage provided a really peaceful retreat with wonderful views, and had very generous living space for the nine of us. We all had a wonderful week and would heartily recommend this property to others! Thanks again Sheila and Tony for a wonderful week in the heart of France.

Superbe séjour dans cette charmante demeure. Le jardin est plus que fantastique et nos enfants ont pu en profiter pleinement. Les hôtes sont d´une gentillesse extrême et vous réserveront un accueil des plus chaleureux. L´emplacement de cette maison est idéal car au calme dans la campagne, mais il est très appréciable de pouvoir bénéficier aux alentours de magnifiques balades et le Mont St Michel et à moins d´1h. Merveilleux séjour
Nous avons passé un séjour vraiment agréable dans cette maison particulièrement bien décorée confortable. Sheila et Tony nous ont vraiment bien accueilli et nous ont offert des gâteaux et une bouteille de crémant à notre arrivée! Cet endroit est parfait pour profiter de quelques jours au vert, avec des enfants qui peuvent notamment profiter du très grand jardin où se trouvent un trampoline et une structure de tobogan. Bref, nous reviendrons probablement!

Excellent stay, in a nice location and great hosts!
Sheila and Tony are such a nice and caring hosts that you will immediately feel at home! The location is amazing, in a very calm and relaxing environment, with a nice surrounding! The house is perfectly equipped and tastefully decorated. The firesides in the living room and the kitchen made our stay even more pleasant. The garden around the house is beautiful and made the kids happy with all the playground they enjoyed in addition to the bikes. This was a memorble long weekend where we enjoyed both the house and the neighboring monuments and villages (Mont saint Michel...). We definitely recommend! Thank you Sheila and Tony for your kindness and friendship spirit!

Un automne dans un charmant cottage avec anglais
Sheila et Tony sont adorables, ils habitent une partie indépendante de la maison et donc sont juste à côté si besoin. La maison est très agréable, chaude, très bien équipée et très propre ! Un lieu et un accueil fantastiques
Le gîte Hill Crest de Tony et Sheila est vraiment une perle. Niché sur les hauteurs de Sourdeval, il est au calme et possède un grand jardin (avec trampoline et piscine) qui a fait le bonheur des enfants, mais toutes les commodités sont à maximum dix minutes en voiture. Notre groupe de deux familles (4 adultes, 3 enfants) y était confortablement logés, et nous avions de la place. Le plus important à signaler: les propriétaires étaient présents sur place, et aux petits soins pour nous: d'une bouteille de bienvenue, à un prêt de vélo, à un remplacement instantané d'une ampoule où à la mise en place de transats dans le jardin, nous n'avions jamais été accueillis aussi chaleureusement. Nous ne pouvons que recommander ce lieu de vacances ! Tony et Sheila, un grand merci de la part de notre groupe !
