I arrived at the resort at 10:30am and was told I had to pay $400mx per person if I wanted to access the facility before noon. Around 11:00am another couple was able to check in and received access to the facility. The service lacks and the facility is old and needs updates. At the moment of receiving the room we noticed the mini bar was not cleaned or stocked. I had to call reception to have it restocked as they never cleaned it. Our entry key was not working at the time and had to wait about an hour for it to be fixed.. The light of the bathroom would go off and one of the lamps in the room was never fixed. Overall the quality is below average in all aspects.

What I liked about the property was the pools and how close we were to the beach, also the rooms were very clean and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The things that I did not like was the food, it was very americanized it had no flavor and I felt like it was catered for a white person’s palate. I did not feel like it was authentic mexican food the salsa tasted like tomato sauce and the meat was not flavored.

The property was always extremely clean. The entertainment staff particularly did an amazing job of providing fun things to do like beach volleyball, and daily games. The food and drinks were good also. The bartenders were great and we never waited more than a couple minutes max for a drink. The location is a bit of a drive but completely worth it because you get to see the jungle scenery. There is a small town with a couple restaurants right beside the resort that we loved visiting because it was only a walk away and felt super safe. Los Pescardos was our personal favourite. Overall the barcelo has been our favourite resort so far, would definitely go back!

We traveled as a group of 10 with a combination of family and friends. We have mixed feelings about our stay. While we had a great time together, there were some things that will keep us from coming back. The rooms were spacious, however the air conditioning in our room did not work sufficiently. The entertainment team by the pool was amazing! They kept the crowd involved and tried to get people to participate. The swim-up bar was great, however it was very difficult to get a drink since it was so busy. There were also not many staff coming around for drink service. The drinks were also pretty watered down for the most part. The food was marginal. We had some good food, but also some was not great. Our favorite was probably the snack bar, which we went to every day for lunch. Out of the 10 in our group, 6 of us got sick, and there are 3 of us still battling it even after we got home. One of the members is on day 6. That alone is the biggest factor for not coming back. The location was great and the view was amazing. I just wish the drinks and food were better. Again, we still had a great time, however we will not return as there are many other great places in PV to stay!
