Received a warm welcome upon arrival from the lodge's very helpful host. I needed a taxi for the morning and he recommended a cab company that turned out to be excellent.
My room and its en-suite bathroom were remarkably clean. The only thing that wasn't pristine was the kettle, but I happily used it.
Comfy bed that felt fresh. Firm mattress, I usually prefer soft but I liked it.
The whole place had a very home-like atmosphere. The room felt cosy and was genuinely nice to be in, particularly in the evening and at night.
I appreciated the decent WiFi, along with the vast number of power sockets available to use in the room, and also that all appliances had been recently PAT tested.
Walls were a little thin, heard conversations happening downstairs but couldn't exactly hear what was being said, and this wasn't particularly disturbing - just felt like being in a house.
The location was great for Southampton Central train station, and the street was quiet on a Saturday night.
Very good value for money, particularly for a weekend in Southampton.
Overall, comfy and clean accommodation at a very reasonable price. Landguard Lodge clearly has a caring and careful owner.
