Lovely hotel with good size, clean rooms and very friendly and helpful staff, set in a great location for anyone who likes to get out for a walk. No shops bars or restaurants around which means the hotel restaurant is the only option, and that's what lets the hotel down.
The food is poor, even the new menu is basic food but it is cooked badly. First night I had sea bass which was ok but the veg was soggy mush and I sent it back, it was replaced with carrots and parsnips which were tasteless.
The second night I had chicken stir-fry, no rice was available but they had noodles which were good.
However the chicken was breaded / coated in something similar, and was out of a pre-purchased possibly frozen packet. Hardly any veg with it, so could and should have been a lot better.
If a proper chef was employed there it would bring the hotel up to another level as there is nothing else to fault.
I had stayed there last year and had the same problem with the food than. The new menu has not improved the quality of the cooking since then. Staff in the bar / restaurant and reception were all excellent to deal with. The breakfast is good and again very helpful, friendly staff working there.
I will stay there again an continue to hope the owners take note of what is required to really improve their business.
