Perfect for a couples getaway, our Laurel Cabin is comfy no matter the weather on the plateau. Whether you choose to spend a day at Canopy Challenge, golfing at the park, heading to the stables, or a more meditative day at Isha Institute of Inner Sciences, we are located just 5 miles from the south entrance of Fall Creek Falls State Park, so that you can enjoy it all. Our 600 sq ft cabin, has a wide front porch that looks out over the pond, private deck and fire pit, grill, and picnic area.
This cabin is equipped with all that you need for comfortable camping on The Plateau. No need to rough it and sleep on the ground and have to light a fire for your coffee in the morning.
Wake from a good night's sleep and put on the coffee maker. Take a stroll around the pond, and return to your cabin to enjoy your coffee sitting on the generous porch or deck while enjoying the bird activity at the feeders and nest boxes. With our fully appointed kitchen, it's easy to make a nourishing breakfast made from the supplies that you purchased at our local mennonite community before going the short distance to Fall Creek Falls State Park.
FCF has wonderful hiking trails and viewing points to the waterfalls, as well as access to other activities: Horseback riding, Zip line, and golf. Pick up your lunch at one of their snack bars or eat something that you packed ahead to make a full day of your adventure.
Again, our front porch and pond are excellent amenities to take advantage of for the evening before having your dinner. Be sure to bring charcoal to cook up something sumptuous on the provided grill, and wood to whip up after dinner s'mores at your fire pit. The fireflies and chuck-wills-widows will serenade your eyes and ears as the coals burn down before you head back inside.
In an area as secluded and wooded as ours, TV is rare; but with our excellent fiber optic internet, you will have great options. Evening entertainment may include a movie or choose to binge watch something using this cabin's Smart TV. Bring your log ins and passwords for Netflix, AmazonVideo, HULU, DirectNOW, HBOGO or any other streaming services that you subscribe to, or choose from the free options.
A nice hot shower, and bed time it is again! Comfortable camping on The Plateau.
You will have the cabin to yourself. Bring your own firewood and charcoal to enjoy your private fire ring, grill and picnic table. You also have access to our pond for lazy contemplation. There are over 50 acres (mostly wooded) that you can explore. We have one .75mile walking trail.
Though we are not always on the property, we are easily reached via cell phone.
This is a very rural, heavily wooded area... perfect to unplug and unwind. The variety of wildlife with which we share the property is quite wide. There are birds, butterflies, bull frogs and "Bambi"s, as well as a wide variety of bugs. We are quite successful in keeping all of our wild neighbors out of our cabins; but when outdoors, we share the environment with them. Plan accordingly. :)
