Very nice place to stay and near to much more expensive hotels. Walking distance to several conference areas and felt safe while there. Staff were great. Only negative experience was that the breakfast was very minimal.

The room was clean but one of the coffee cups beside the coffee pot was dirty. There was no soap in the bathroom. Breakfast was not satisfactory at all. There was gravy but no biscuits and no waffle batter. Also, the juice machine was empty.

I went down to the front desk early morning to get toothpaste. No one was there. Had a sign up that said would be back momentarily. I waited for 15 minutes. Went back to room, then my key would not work. So back to the front desk. Still no one there. I started walking around and found a person sleeping at the desk at the manager's office. After I went back to the room, got my things and checked out, still no one at the front desk. So probably 30 minutes and no one at the front desk?? How does a hotel operate like that?

State House Inn is First quality
this is my 3rd stay at the State House Inn. It is clean, quiet and very convenient to where the action is in Springfield. i will always go back there when I need to stay in Springfield.

I require a handicap room they would not give me one. They said they had a breakfast. I’m a diabetic took. My insulin went to have breakfast. There’s no food place was dirty and disgusting.

Unprofessional in Springfield
The front doors do not operate correctly. You have to open them manual. The thermostat in my room #416 was smashed out. I took a photo went down to front desk to show the clerk (Cindy) on duty. She said, another one. Never offered to put me in a different room. To busy with her conversation on her cell phone.

Good Location for Sightseeing
The hotel was in an area which is undergoing renovation to the surrounding street and building. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Quite interesting to see the chronology of renovations done on the hotel itself. Easy walking distance to state Capitol and short drive to all things Abraham Lincoln.

I was shocked at the poor condition of the hotel and the unprofessional staff. They don't wear uniforms, every time we entered or exited there was about 5 employees/ guests smoking cigarettes and marijuana just outside the front door. The downtown area looks like something out of the walking dead. When we went to get breakfast that was included with the room we were told sorry all the food is gone. They still had an hour to go before breakfast ended and the hotel was not full.
