The property is very well maintained. I stayed in the solo rooms. It was very comfortable and has everything you need. The grocery store is a 5 minute walk and there is a lovely Cafe provisions for delicious sandwiches. I would definitely stay here again

I had high hopes based on previous reviews but unfortunately, our experience was far from ideal. The room was FILTHY. Mold on the walls, dirt everywhere and the musty, moldy smell is still in our clothes after 2 washes. The room was small and sparse. The shower is maybe 32 inches square, there is no where to put any toiletries in the bathroom. There was one plastic chair in the room that barely held an adult. The refrigerator had something splashed all over the side of it, the cooler was moldy and dirty. The room was damp and nothing would dry. Three days later and my swimsuit still wasn't dry. They included ear plugs, I'm guessing for the roosters, which are right outside the door. I understand they can't control that, but it was very loud and the ear plugs didn't help. I will say the staff was nice when we dealt with them, but there was little interaction since we had to do a self check in and the office is only open a couple hours a day while we were out. The bar area was decent, we weren't aware breakfast was included so we did not partake in that. There is a nice coffee shop right next door which was convenient. It was very disappointing and way too much money for this experience. I would not go back.

This is a hotel with has bare minimum. I’m not sure how it was rated as a three star hotel. There is couch, coffee maker, microwave or anything else normally provided by a regular hotel. The room has a narrow table, a plastic chair and the smallest refrigerator ever seen. It provides a piece of soap and a 2 in 1 shampoo, a few plastic cups. That’s it. The hotel does provide beach chairs and a small cooler but the cooler in our room is so dirty and old that we don’t want to touch it. It The smallest refrigerator I’ve ever seen. No gym, no pool. There is a restaurant which provides decent food. The hotel advertises with providing continental breakfast but it’s really just a piece of bread and a cup of coffee. We were there during the busy holidays and I waited for half an hour to get my “breakfast”. Not worth it at all. The sheet on the bed seems to have been used millions of times. It looks very old. Our room was not cleaned well. Not sure it’s just us. There was hair in the sink. The surface of furnitures was dirty. The worst is the shower curtain. There were lots of black molds on it. We talked to the front office lady. She seemed to be frustrated with the cleaning lady and called her back to clean up. The location is great. Quiet and walkable to downtown. Overall it’s quite disappointing for a three star hotel in the price range of $250 - 300 per night. It’s more like a hostel style lodging with private rooms.

For the money we paid we expected a clean and dry room. Unfortunately the room was not well kept. It seemed to be very humid due to the AC that doesn’t run when the room is not occupied. There was mold on our shower curtain and all fabrics and shelves seemed to be damp as well as our clothes after one night of staying there. Continental breakfast meant one piece of toast, one tea or coffee and some fruits. I had to discuss that our towels are changed twice during a five nights stay. We really didn’t felt welcome at the Tamarind Court beeing asked if we really want our towels to be changed because we are leaving one day later anyway. The beach chairs that were there for free rent were standing in the rain without shelter and due to this full of mold and rust. It would be easy for the Tamarind team to place them on a dry spot. The location to restaurants and shops in Cruz Bay as well as the free parking were good. The cleaning staff did a good job when they cleaned our room twice. They just couldn’t do anything against the mold and dampness.

THE ROOM WAS IMMACULATE AND VERY NICELY DECORATED. THE ADJOINING RESTAURANT HAD A SIMPLE MENU OF EXTREMELY WELL-PREPARED FOOD, INCLUDING A SMALL BUT DELICIOUS COMPLEMENTARY BREAKFAST FOR WITH DEIXIOUS SWEET BREAD. ONLY A SHORT BUT HILLY WALK FROM THE FERRY TERMINAL.

So convenient to Cruz Bay. Comfortable room, Comfortable bed.Quiet AC. Friendly staff. The continental breakfast was sufficient for my tastes. Coffee shop next door had great coffee and sandwiches for lunch. This was a good choice for a solo female. Felt very safe.

Always a fantastic stay at the Tamarind! The team that keeps this boutique hotel and restaurant going is one of the hardest working, friendly, and hospitable teams I've ever known. All the rooms are very clean. The shared bathrooms are kept very clean as well. The location is perfect and very easy!. Make sure you eat at the restaurant, breakfast, lunch and dinner. All very good. If you catch a night for barbecue it is outstanding. Make sure you don't miss it!. Enjoy the courtyard in the evening. Stephanie and team have gone to great lengths keeping beautiful flowers and plants growing and thriving. St. John is very lucky to have such a wonderful little hotel and group of people keeping it nice.
