The hotel's past reviews are well deserved, the hotel has a lovely location, staff are very nice and food is great quality, especially the breakfast. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay, would definitely recommend.

A very nice venue with excellent staff and service. Would have scored it 5* BUT we stayed overnight on a Sunday (when the main restaurant is routinely closed), only bar meals were available for guests. The menu options for someone with food allergies were poor at best. Only one main course (steak), but no starters and no desserts available for someone with gluten and dairy allergy. A hotel of this calibre should be able to do better than this.

Our one night stay was generally very good. We dined in the restaurant off the main, most expensive menu. I ordered sea trout which was enjoyable but a rather small portion. My wife ordered fish, triple cooked chips and crushed peas. The triple cooked chips were soggy and the crushed peas lacked flavour. Overall, the dining experience was somewhat disappointing for the price.

very pleasant stay
Very pleasant one night stay. Large room at rear of hotel with view of canal. Very comfortable, large, bed. Excellent bathroom although we prefer walk in showers rather than shower over bath. Would have appreciated a magnifying mirror in bathroom. Outside the hotel is lovely, with lake, ducks etc, plenty seating - although picnic tables and benches not as comfortable as chairs and tables. Bar prices and food prices reasonable for the high standard. Wedding in progress but in separate area and didn't affect our enjoyment.

Lovely hotel, friendly helpful staff and a great breakfast. However the bed mattress was old and very uncomfortable with loose protruding springs which led to a very poor nights sleep. Left the following morning more tired then when we arrived, which spoilt our weekend away!

Arrived on a very hot evening, staff had closed my curtains and had a fan on when I entered ensuring it was cool, nice touch. Food and drink offering was very good with lovely ambience. Staff in all areas were excellent and attentive
