Perfect for what we needed

We just wrapped up a lovely stay at the Bell Inn. Rooms were immaculate, bathroom immaculate, linens clean, amazing breakfast and dining options and a friendly staff. Would highly recommend The Bell Inn.

A great night spent at Horndon-on-the-Hill
Although I only stayed for one night at this lovely hotel the staff and the atmosphere made my stay a wonderful experience. Definitely eat at the pub downstairs - they have some excellent food!

Exceptional find!
Beautiful and spotless accommodation. Fabulous helpful and attentive staff. Breakfast to die for! Loved the meadow for walking the dog and delighted she was allowed in for breakfast. We have already booked again for next month.

The staff were absolutely amazing in this place! Not to mention the rooms - lovely, clean and comfortable. To top it off, we held an evening meeting here and the food was incredible. Would highly recommend and use again

Lovely hotel but pricey breakfast
Horndon on the Hill is a picturesque village and the Bell is a delightful pub and hotel. The rooms are comfortable, clean and quiet and in a pretty setting. My only gripe was breakfast which can work out really expensive. Toast and jam is £4.10, a 'Variety' pack cereal £2.50 and tea £2.50. My breakfast cost £17.10 and it could have been more.

Extremely clean and tidy
It was a great view despite the tight access to the carpark there was parking in front of room. The room was clean and tidy, the bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was very modern and clean. The staff were polite and friendly and very helpful.

Mixed thoughts, really!
This hotel was really nice! The room was spacious and clean and the size of the bed was wonderful! I really loved the homemade biscuits that were left by the kettle, they were lovely and a nice homely touch! Checking in and out was nice and easy and the receptionist was friendly! My only gripes are that the ground floor room backed on to the kitchen, which meant it was a common occurrence to hear clattering of plates, shouting chefs and glass bottles being disposed of, which could be inconvenient to someone who spends more time in it than I did. It was also impossible to get dressed without shutting the curtains, due to the lack of nets at the window and door, and being on the ground floor meant people walked past/stood by the window a lot. The main issue for me however, was that I wanted to bring my partner and dog with me with me after I’d booked it, and wanted to amend my booking so that this was possible, however the agent at Hotels.com told me that I had a single persons room booked and this wouldn’t be possible without paying an extra fee, although I knew I’d booked a pet-friendly, queen size bed! On arrival, I had the large queen-size bed that I knew I had booked originally and the room was large enough to have housed a dog too. This was frustrating and ruined our plans. It was unnecessary for me to have to attend on my own and I could have bought them along with me after all, but due to poor hosting I didn’t find that out until I arrived, and it was too late.

Beautiful location and a wonderful building and my room was perfect. However the 1st night was awful. the room cost over a 120 per night and mine was facing a conference room where they had a wine tasting evening i believe ..? All i can say the more they drank the loader it got i managed to get to sleep about 1am . I mentioned this in the morning to the receptionist and got will tell the management and heard nothing else. For the kind of money they charged would have expected better . Didnt even get notified that this was happening let alone 5 metres from my room. The food was good but very overpriced and the following day walked 100yds down the road to the the local pub restaurant where the food was better and half the price.overall very disappointed and would not got back or reccomend if in that room.
