The check in was easy, the rooms were clean and the hot tub was clean. The staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast variety was good on Saturday and Sunday but below average on Monday once the weekend crowds had left. Restaurant, cafes, coffee shops were mostly closed due to it not being prime season which is fine but if you looked them up online it showed them as open. It would be good if the websites updated the hours. All in all a good experience.

My husband would rate it a 1 because there was no coffee in the rooms and none available in lobby. Just with breakfast. I agree there should have been coffee somewhere.

It was a very convenient & affordable stay. The full breakfast included was great & it was very clean. The lodge is just very dated and i suspect if i hadnt paid for the best room, i wouldnt have liked being in a below level room. Also please can you add a coffee maker in the room? That would go a long way. I wouldnt not stay again based on budget. We found stratton as a whole lack luster & expensive. The harvest festival was over priced as was the “Octoberfest”. A waste of money.

Watch out for bait and switch
I booked Straton resort, the address was 5 Village lodge, Straton, VT. When I arrived, I was told to check in at Black Bear Lodge, 61 Middle Road, Straton, VT. When I was on your web site (Hotels.com) the picture shows the main lodge, that is where I expected to stay, not some back lot lodge, with a basement room and ground level view of the parking lot. Talk about bait and switch, if I could have gone to another hotel I would have.

Overall, it was a very nice stay. I did find the staff was a bit "short", not necessarily rude, but it was obvious that they just wanted to move us along. Otherwise, pretty nice.

The walls are thin. You can hear people walking upper level and you can hear people walking in the halls. Very loud. No sound proof.

The beds were high and little hard. The toilet is too small for average adult. I think need to reassess the layout of the bathrooms. Fix the door latches and locks. Quite time in the evening like 10 pm to 6 am.

The property itself is outdated and a bit run down. Our room was on the first floor and was very musty. The hotel appears to have balconies but they are not accessible. You cannot go around the property to get a good view of the Lower Mountain area and you don't get a good view of the Upper Mountain Area because it's blocked by condominiums. The continental breakfast was lacking and there wasn't much to offer. The staff was very nice and accommodating and the room was clean. For the price, it was fine. I wouldn't go back unless I was going to ski. We used it as a one-night stay to extend our trip in the region. Overall, I was disappointed.
