We had a wonderful stay! Our room was very spacious and clean. The hotel is quite modern and about a 5-10 minute walk to the subway (depending on which station you go to) which was very convenient. Beautiful view of the water and the staff was extremely kind!

Nice size rooms for Japan and a great shower and bath room. Full service bar and restaurant in the loby is very nice as well. Higher floors are better for less highway noise.

The Gate Hotel is very modern and sleek. I love the clean smell as you walk through the doors. Staff is very friendly and professional. I liked that they spoke English well as it made it easy to communicate. This is our second time staying here and it is definitely our hotel of choice when we come to Ryugoku.

I really loved my stay with the Gate Hotel. We were greeted by the staff who were extremely warm to us & attentive to what we needed. Location: The hotel is conveniently located next to the train station. There are complaints in some reviews about the highway noise but it didn't bother me. My room was facing the river by the highway and for the most part I didn't hear much or whatever sounds I did hear were muted. I had a room on the 6th floor so that also might be why the sound was less intense for me vs being on the bottom floors closer to the highway. Japan in general is really safe and the area is really safe. I was walking around late at night by myself and didn't feel unsafe at all. I noticed a lot of foreigners in the area. Cleanliness: The hotel was very clean. They tell you when you check in when their cleaning hours are and confirm with you. Sometimes if the cleaning staff sees you in the hall they will ask if it's ok to clean your room which I really appreciated. They don't randomly barge into your room at 6AM and wake you up or cause an awkward situation like some places. Room: The walls are very thin. You can hear people in the rooms next to you to talking at normal levels or moving around. The bed was too hard for me. It wasn't uncomfortable to the point where I couldn't sleep but it was not great.
