The Hotel is looking tired from the accommodation room perspective. The photos on website made it look a lot newer and more comfortable than in reality. Beds were old and unsupportive leaving our lower back sore. There was touch up repairs throughout the room/bathroom and carpet was very tired. The service was the better aspect from this hotel and the location is excellent. If you don’t need a comfortable bed and are happy to overlook the tired room,then you will be ok, depending on the rates you pay at the time.(I paid $200). Lower your expectations to avoid Disappointment. It’s really a glorified backpackers.

The hotel charged me a $100 dollar bond fee agains the room charge even though the room was paid for in advance and didn't credit back the $100 bond fee they charged on my credit card before I left. They told me that I had to chase my bank up for the credit to be applied back to my credit card. This is both elligal and not at all a customer friendly experience. If I had of known this up front I probably would have chosen a different place to stay!

Consider alternatives

Average stay and poor in many areas. I'm 175cm and the bathroom has you sitting sideways on the toilet. The shower has the head positioned slightly below your shoulders. So everything is uncomfortable in the bathroom. While the room was spacious, it was extremely worn with stains and makings on both the carpet and the walls. The bed was lumpy and either rock hard or you were falling through to the floor. The only thing going for the room were the pillows that at least had some variation so you could find one you liked. Consider your other options.

My room was clean and quiet with all expectable amenities. There are plenty of dining opportunities nearby, including Thai, Chinese, Malaysian and Vietnamese cuisine. The hotel is very near to Chinatown light rail station (a few minutes walk).

Really helpful staff and a really nice hotel, we had a clean tidy room and everything worked. The hotel is in a great location in the middle of the city, there's also a tram stop in the next road and it's a 5 minute walk to the main railway station. If we were in Sydney in the future we would definitely stay at the Metro Marlow again.

Perfect location for exploration of Sydney

This hotel is on a perfect location for enjoyment of the city. The hotel staff are friendly and helpful. The room … especially the bathroom, was ‘tired’ and probably in need of some upgrade work. However, it was clean and comfortable and we will stay there again.
