The hotel was incredibly clean and neat! Front desk was friendly and efficient. Breakfast was a well rounded meal. I would absolutely recommend this hotel for anyone coming to the Tacoma area.

i like that the area surrounding the hotel is not the best, but the hotel does a good job with security and looking good. I can see the hotels in the area are trying their best to make the area better.

I was very disappointed to learn about the 100 dollar security deposit, they insisted that it was stated on their website but I did not see it on the Expedia site, the two emails they sent me, or in the phone call I made to the hotel to confirm my reservation. Later that evening I saw a man and his wife have the same issue but he was unable to afford the deposit and I believe he had to leave the hotel without a refund. Its clear that I am not the only one who has this issue and it occurs multiple times a day. They need to email or call people who have reserved in advance and let inform them that their is a 100 dollar security deposit and if they do not want to pay it they can cancel their room with full refund. Because of this I will not be staying here again. not sure if Ill stay at any best western again if they all have this deposit that they do not inform anyone of. I had already payed for the hotel (no refunds) and if my wife was not there to pay for the deposit I would have had to drive home.

Great hotel annoying gym hours
The room was great, pillows we OK and the fridge was awesome to have for the stuff in our cooler while we refroze our ice packs. The only thing that upset me was to get up at 5am and find out the gym doesn't open until 7am. Not sure who that is convenient for of you need to leave on your trip and like to exercise in the morning. I would consider changing the opening time.

Night shift security guard and front desk employee
The room and hotel overall was nice. They serve free breakfast and in an area close to the highway. Day shift staff are very nice! The downside was the parking lot and the security guard and front desk employee who worked the night shift. There is minimal parking to begin with and at night traffic cones are put up to block off part of the lot which does not let allow you to leave. The security guard is unfriendly and makes you feel uncomfortable as he is walking around cars all night and staring you down as you get in/out of your car. He does not speak and is rude. There were many times he popped up out of no where as I am getting out of my car. The front desk employee is rude and gives short responses as if she has an attitude and does not want you speaking to her. My key card stopped working one night and needed her to reset it and she would respond with “mhmm” and barely looked my way. Both employees seemed very judgmental and did not provide hospitality. It was extremely uncomfortable coming in and out of the hotel at night.

On the positive side, nice new hotel with good breakfast. On negative side, even from the top (4th) floor there was a lot of street/highway noise, so not soundproofed well enough. Also, we had a room with a walk in shower with sliding glass doors. They were misstated and would not stay shut. We had to cram a towel in to keep them from sliding open
