Stayed as a family with young kids. Very well located hotel in ximending. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Would stay again. Only downside is the proximity to the main road and road noise can be heard at night or early morning.

The staff was very kind! Our hotel room was clean and they provided complimentary drinks as well. The area around the hotel is super convenient for tourists. You have easy access to various restaurants, food stalls, and shops. There’s always people in the area no matter what, so you feel safe going out anytime of day. Highly recommend for first-timers in Taipei.

Great location, unreasonable staff.
Fantastic location, average hotel. Rooms are small, bathroom is small, bed is firm. The shower ceiling is 6ft high, so if you're taller that 6 ft you will need a different hotel. Overall though, the biggest downside is the poor service. The staff here is friendly but extremely rigid to the point of being unreasonable. In particular, they would not allow any flexibility of checkout time without paying an absurd fee (ex. pay for half night fee if you want to check out a minute after 11am).

Just left Taipei, and had a fantastic albeit short 3 night stay at Westgate. First, location is fantastic. Not only are you right across the street from the MRT, you're right on the edge of a very popular area full of restaurants, bars, and nightlife. With that said, the location is definitely not for everyone due to the large crowds. Because the hotel is on the edge of it, we never found it to be a problem, and the location suited us great for our trip. It's also amazingly easy to find as the instant you walk out of the MRT stop, you can see it, provided you pick the right exit. The hotel's website tells you the best route though. Some of the inclusions during our stay were breakfast, a couple of pineapple cake cookies, and some little keychains with the mascot of the hotel on a pillow, plus a couple of small cans of pop (Coke and Sprite). The breakfast changed slightly each morning, but was surprisingly good, and encompassed a lot of variety, with everything from eggs with toast and bacon to fruit and cakes along with random asian vegetables, steamed buns, congee, and fried chicken. The service was wonderful, the staff always trying their best to help, whether with directions, opening the doors, or anything you might need in the room. The room itself was spacious for an asian country, with amazing water pressure in the shower, I don't have anything negative to say about this hotel, and will be back if I visit Taipei again!
