Nestled in the Kiamichi Valley, surrounded by the rolling Potato Hills, National Forrest, and nearby Buffalo Mountain where hang gliders can enjoy the scenery from above, and perhaps less adventurous visitors can roam this historic home of the Choctaws. This restored rock cottage is centrally located to The Talimena Trail, many area lakes, festivals, restaurants, and shopping. The one-bedroom cottage, decorated with antiques and a nature theme, can sleep 4 using the pull out queen-sized sofa bed that has a custom mattress and memory foam topper. The luxury bath has a whirlpool tub and a rain shower, is fitted with plush towels, and decadent fixtures. The cottage includes a washer and dryer, full kitchen with all amenities needed for cooking, DISH TV in the living and bedroom, wireless internet, and a beautiful back deck with hot tub, an electric grill, and a privacy fence constructed of raw cut cedars. Your stay includes a small spring-fed fishing pond at the back of the property, just a short walk away. Bring your poles or borrow a couple of ours. the Gazebo contains porch swings benches and a chiminea. Wood is furnished.

Perfect stay
This is just what we wanted…quiet time away. Such a perfect little restored home…cozy and comfortable. We enjoyed the private hot tub also. We will definitely stay again on our next trip if available.

To begin, the property itself has a lot of potential. It is just not currently in any condition to take tenants. The sink in the kitchen does not work properly, and water went all over the floor from underneath the cabinet, so that is not usable. The hot water does not work. There has not been hot water during our stay. The biggest issue is that there are 3 pit bulls that are on the property. 2 are collared, but one is not. 1 is definitely not friendly and has been at the door barking and growling. We have had to wait in the truck to try to even get into the home on multiple occasions. The back patio has been unusable due to the dogs. This could be a great property, but it needs attention. We were looking for a place to rent consistently since we just bought property in town, but with the lack of security and safety with pit bulls being aggressive as well as the home itself needing work, this has been ‘less than positive.’ It is actually so bad we are leaving a night early.

Relaxing quiet getaway
Last minute booking for Husband and I, we had a chance to get away for a couple of days and took advantage of it, very relaxing, well equipped, we had everything we possibly could need there. The house was beautifully updated, very relaxing with a wonderful hot tub, It was just what we needed.

Needed a homebase for a long weekend of motorcycle riding and this was prefect. Pictures do not do this place justice, much more charming in person. Although other houses close by they were not a problem. Had everything we needed and then some. Although we never received any communication online. one very nice phone call got everything we needed. Would definitely stay again.

Charming Little Cottage
We arrived late on a a Friday night as we were driving from Fort Worth after work. This cottage is in a very small town and there are no street lights so it was challenging finding the house even with directions. ( no fault of the host) That being said, this is a sweet little cottage for a quiet getaway. Since it was still hot during the day we didn’t sit outside on the deck. I think this would be beautiful in spring or fall. We drove the Talimena scenic byway & drove to Queen Whilhelmina Stare Park. It is beautiful there with many wildflowers Lunch there was delightful! The cottage had a well stocked kitchen w full size refrigerator. We brought food to take w us on our daytrip, which was very convenient.. we found the bed to be a little hard /firm. The air conditioning was great! It would be a great place to hang out w a good book on the deck after a scenic drive and lunch out & about. This is a restored vintage structure so it is a little quirky and will not be like staying in a modern, sanitized hotel. I would be happy to stay again if the host put a memory foam topper on the bed. A nice little place for a country getaway.

Great launchpad for Talihina vacation
This cottage is nicer than what the photos show (as of May 2022). The amenities are just what you need, and then a little more. Janet is helpful and responsive, and there's not much more than you can ask for to create memories. She keeps the cupboards stocked with little things you might need, which helps greatly in a pinch. We were concerned that the main residence might be right on top of the cottage, but it wasn't too bad. There are a couple good places to eat and hang out outside, but overall you're going to want to enjoy the cozy space inside and the area attractions you came to see. I was surprised how well the AC worked (very good). The nonstick pans I used did a lot of sticking, and I'm used to cooking on cast iron and straight metal pans, so that surprised me. But that's how detailed I have to go to find a complaint. Overall, Janet is an experienced host who has everything figured out. Internet works, hot water works, bed works, etc. Very recommended for your vacation!

The Rock House stay
The rock house was very comfortable and clean. Loved the decorations of the many bears. It was close to the town and to hiking location. This area of Oklahoma is beautiful with many different types of Pine trees. I would return to this delightful cottage.

Anniversary Trip
Great stay and property in Talihina! My wife and I are hoping to be back in the future for another anniversary weekend. The cottage had everything we needed and we really enjoyed the hot tub in the evening looking at the stars. Definitely recommended!
