This is a very old property which is part of it's charm. Water pressure in the shower was very limited. Accomodations are simple. Really liked new vinyl flooring in room with throw rug. Much better than carpeting. I will return.

Love staying at the Congress. convenient to places. Some areas do show age, but it is expected for such a historic hotel. Bathrooms have been nicely redone. Rates reasonable for location.

Ice machines! This was an issue here all summer long. I pointed it out to management over the summer but the issue has gone from bad to worse. Supposedly, there are ice machines on even floors. This visit, housekeeping directed me to the machine on the 4th floor as the only working ice machine. I suggest that as a minimum, correct the signs on all floors that do not have operable ice machines.

The beds were comfortable. The smoke detector needed servicing and the maintenance person attended to it promptly. The placement of the toilet paper dispenser was inconvenient. The heat didn't work in one of the rooms but a space heater remedied the situation. Our view of the side of the building was not inspirational.

Booked this hotel for my honeymoon and was very disappointed. The room we were given did not look anything like the photos, the room had been smoked in, the bed was rock hard, the room was not very clean and there was zero hot water.

The rooms have been up but the halls and carpet need work. Customer service ok acted like we were a bother well checking and when we need a plunger for the bath. Won’t stay here again.

Cool creepy hotel. Came here because it was rated most haunted . Awesome design and cool wall art but this building is clearly really old and not updated at all. Which is cool but also bad . Our toilet literally wasn’t attached to the ground so we couldn’t really use it because it leaked . The toilet paper roll holder was broken . The air conditioner was so old and would start squealing . You can feel The old vintage feel and haunted feeling of this place . Walls have paint chipping in stairway and parking is not free or with the stay- it’s cost 64$ and had to park in creepy back parking area behind the hotel. We wanted to eat dinner here but they closed the restaurant for something to do with the gas. All in all.. there is a few things that clearly need fixing lol. But the cool Halloween haunted feel is real here and a perfect location for ghost hunting

Our stay was generally good, however, our last night there were several young females in the room next that were talking loud and maiming noise late at night. I had to call security twice. The second guard knocked on our door after speaking to the people in the room to tell us after speaking with the young females they said they were not being loud. What did he expect them to say, not to mention he identified us as the folks who complained.

The bathroom could be larger, closet space could be used to enlarge bathroom. Doors should be stripped to slow closure. Loved The ambiance of a preserved property, love Park across street. Location was easy access. Walking in that Chicago area is challenging with condition of sidewalks and some roads.

Great location, friendly, in need of some updating
All the staff we encountered were helpful and friendly. The hotel had all the facilities you would want and expect and was on a great location. However, the hotel itself was looking a bit tired and in need of some maintenance. For example, our bathroom door would not close flat because of all the layers of paint added over the years, which meant it would not close, or lock, properly. It just needed someone to sand down the door and repair the lock. Beyond needing a bit of TLC, I would still recommend the hotel as it was in a great location with lovely views of Grant Park and the lake. Also, every member of staff a spoke to was helpful and friendly.

This is a great mix of history and modern. Our room was updated with modern furnishings and flooring but our bathroom and the public areas were a glimpse of the past it was fabulous. Easy walk to soldier field
