Beach Week at Cerritos Surf Town

My wife and I returned to Cerritos Surf Town after visiting with our kids five years ago. Cerritos Beach has gotten busier over time, but the experience at CST is still very relaxing and comfortable. Staff are welcoming. We spent a lot of our time sitting on our ocean view hut's porch watching passing whales spout, surface, and breach, and the rest of the time walking the miles of little used beach to the south. Barracuda Cantina has moved just to the north of CST, so fresh fish tacos are literally a short walk up the beach. CST is not fancy, but it is a great value for the price.

The room was awful. If you want toilet privacy your roommate has to leave. No clothes iron, ironing board, clothes hangars, storage, water pressure. Nothing. I would not go back.

I would love to give the place a better review. The location is perfect, the pool area is great (pool could be a tad warmer), and the staff was generally great. We could not overlook the overwhelming septic smell around our casita. I brought it to the attention of the gentleman at the office but nothing was done to remedy it (the tank was left uncovered because of some work being done). We travel to Mexico often and are used to the showers off gassing a bit but this was something else. It was difficult to sit on the patio.

It was pleasantly quiet, after we stayed at the Hard Rock Hotel near Cabo. The staff were pleasant, the food was good and the beach was good (you can't go in the water at the Hard Rock beach because it is dangerous there).
