Welcome to White Bear Cottage: The cottage is a fully detached building, perched on the side of the lot, facing south along the edge of the lush forest. The main floor boasts an open concept living room and kitchen area, with a large island for dining and conversation. For those who prefer to dine al fresco, a covered front patio includes a dining table and outdoor seating, creating the perfect setting for warmer days. Inside, you’ll find a cozy and inviting space featuring bedrooms with a minimalist, yet functional setup, including queen beds, reclaimed, live-edge wood wardrobe and bedside tables. Upstairs, you'll enjoy a mezzanine space, to sneak away and work or indulge in some yoga or stretching after your time in the water. The cottage uses a combination of heat pump heating with bedroom baseboards for efficient and sustainable comfort in this well-insulated home.

If you appreciate award winning architecture, a comfortable and thoughtful layout, and the rare opportunity to stay just steps away from some of Canada’s most famous beaches, then this treasured spot is an absolute must. Property Surroundings: the cottage is a secondary building on the property, nestled into the forest and facing away from the primary residence, where the owners live, work and play. The cottage has dedicated driveway parking next to its front entrance and an overflow parking spot, opposite.

Please note: the vintage style living room couches have been replaced by two grey upholstered couches.

Booking Policies:
To ensure a comfortable stay for all guests, we have a strict occupancy limit for our cabin:
Maximum Occupancy: 4 guests, including babies and infants.
Pet Policy: Only 1 dog is allowed. No cats or additional dogs are permitted. This policy is strictly enforced.
Please do not submit a booking if your group exceeds this limit. If more than 4 guests arrive, we reserve the right to ask you to leave without a refund. This policy is in place to maintain the comfort and safety of all guests.
Minimum Stay: A minimum stay of 3 nights is required for all summer bookings and Canadian statutory holidays. Exceptions may be made if the booking fills a 2-night gap.

Host Availability: If you receive a "Host unavailable" message while the calendar appears open, please contact us. We can override our booking system for gap-filling reservations during non-peak seasons or last-minute bookings.

House Rules: No Parties or Events: We strictly prohibit parties or events on the property.

Age Requirement: All guests must be at least 25 years old. Please do not request a booking for groups larger than 4 guests.

Property Details:
Onsite Owners: The property owners, a family with young children and a friendly dog, reside year-round in the main house located behind the cottage.

Quiet Hours: We enforce quiet hours from 10 pm to 8 am. Please be mindful of noise levels both inside and outside the premises during these times to maintain a peaceful environment for all guests and neighbors.

Accidental Damage Protection (ADP): The ADP covers accidental damages up to $1,000, provided they are reported to Tofino Vacation Rentals in writing before check-out. The ADP is a mandatory fee of $10 per night, included in your nightly rate.
Cancellation Policy: September through June: A 30-day cancellation notice is required.
July through August: A 60-day cancellation notice is required.
Cancellations with the required notice will receive a full refund, minus a $73.50 non-refundable processing fee. No refunds will be given for cancellations made without the required notice.

Literally the best VRBO in which I have stayed. Ever.
A few steps from Chesterman Beach, this location is matched only by the accommodation and the vibe that the owners Gillian and Fraser bring with it. My wife and I arrived with a plan to cook, surf, walk, play with our dog and work quietly. This small house with high ceilings and huge windows melts into the outdoor world in any weather in a way I can only describe as improbable. We spent hours on the spacious, elegantly covered and protected porch in rain and wind storms. We cooked all manor of food and even baked a pie. Returning "home" after a morning surf to a hot outdoor shower and a large cup of coffee on our last day, I simply booked again for next year. I travel a lot and around the world and I have never stayed in a place that felt like a home I might never want to leave.

Perfect!!
Mom, dad and 2 adult daughters - cottage had everything we needed for our stay!! Many meals made in the kitchen and bbq. Lots of thought went into setting up this cottage - great bedding, blankets on the couches, every kitchen appliance we needed was available, games/puzzles…even nice toiletries! Perfect location to North Chesterman beach. Exceeded our expectations!!!
