I’m still wondering why this hotel receives such high scores. We didn’t receive the upgrade we expected and our room was as average as average gets. Cramped, no view, and overpriced. The only bright side was the breakfast buffet, otherwise completely forgettable.
We were hugely impressed with the hotel, the staff are exceptional- fantastic ambassadors for the establishment.
The surrounding area is deceiving. We thought the Main Street (just around the corner) was just a mixture of eateries and bookstores but the wider area is so much more. The hotel will be able to guide you to areas of interest.
I am so glad that I decided to stay at Hotel Niwa and recommend it in a heartbeat.

The hotel rooms could use a little sprucing up. The staff was very courteous and competent. Not sure why we didn’t get the VIP upgrade we were promised.

Service and staff at Hotel Niwa are amazing, they let us leave our luggage a day before our check in and made sure our bags were already in our room. The only thing to call out is that hotel rooms are very small with not much space, if you have more than 1 suitcase and are travelling with someone else just take notes! Location is also a bit further out from your normal tourist places but train station is a short 5 min walk away.
Absolutely the best hotel I’ve been to! Incredible attention to detail and hospitality.
Walkable to train and clean and quiet streets but also very close to down city and other v nearby shops.
Thank you all so much!
Hotel Niwa is a beautiful, relaxing, conveniently located hotel. Now my favorite in Tokyo. The many gardens, tea lounge and rooms are so relaxing. Breakfast delicious and the staff are the best. Definitely recommend this hotel when in Tokyo!
Excelent hotel at a great price that really makes you feel welcome to Japan. Staff are absolutely great and helpful, breakfast is very good and diverse and the rooms are comfortable and good. Walkable distances to close stations
The property is located very close to the Suidobashi rail station and there are several restaurants and shops within walking distance as well, including Tokyo Dome City. The staff is very friendly and accommodating and they were all able to speak in English with us. Our room was very clean and comfortable and we really enjoyed all of the amenities too. The hotel has several peaceful gardens, including one on the rooftop. The breakfast buffet is phenomenal, with an amazing assortment of delicious options, including made to order eggs. We only wish that we could have stayed longer, and can’t wait to stay there again in the future.
Relatively new property, staff very helpful.
Located in a safe quiet neighborhood with a short walk to the JR Train Station and the Tokyo Dome on the other side of the station.
My husband and I stayed here and we loved it. The staff is amazing, the hotel is in the perfect spot to be able to walk or take a train into bigger towns as well. It’s extremely convenient, and super clean! This is by far one of our favorite stays and we would absolutely recommend it to anyone coming to Tokyo. One of my favorite things is that staff gave us a large list of food recommendations and even helped us find where we could get specific items at shops!
I loved Hotel Niwa in Tokyo! It was conveniently located near a subway station, and I could safely walk around by myself from 12 - 1 AM and felt super safe! Neighborhood was also very quiet.
A good hotel and love the different garden views. A relaxing hotel. Not too convenient from Tokyo perspective, but close to 3 train stations. Restaurants nearby cater to college students so cheap but good, but if you are looking for little more upscale you will need to go little far. I recommend it for tourists and business, but the place is little more expensive than something similar in size, location and amenities.
