Happy to support historic buildings

The hotel is very handy from the railway station. The bar area was a delight to relax in, with the chap playing the baby grand. The chairs are comfy but low for eating from (for me 5'4) The restaurant is colourful and the breakfast was good. I was in a room at the back of the hotel and the decor was simple, the room was fine though (i like the old furnitire) and warm enough for me (im a cold person) but maybe a little overpriced. The front rooms , with the views, may be more worth the money (but i was only for 1 night arriving late so no need for a view) I would like to see refilled bottles for bathroom products rather than 'disposables'. I liked the local art at affordable prices in the cabinets.

We stayed a few years ago and very much enjoyed the pool, hot tub, steam & sauna room. We didn’t realise that due to the fire in 2022 that the only thing remaining was the pool. The changing room was freezing and the pool freezing, someone mentioned they were painting in the day and had the doors open to dry the paint. Very disappointing. We would not come back again.

Perfect stay at The Grand

We stayed in the hotel, as we held our joint 50th party there. We stayed in a standard double room and found it to be clean and comfortable, and perfect for our needs. The breakfast was delicious, with a good amount of choice. All of the staff were professional and friendly.

I have stayed here last year and it has gone downhill the furniture in the bedroom was scratched and worn, the TV reception was terrible. Biggest disappointment was the breakfast at time I stayed there was a choice of menu freshly cooked this time help yourself that was one of the main reasons for staying there.

Excellent

We had an issue with our bath but it was very quickly resolved and we were moved to a nicer and bigger room. Have stayed here before with no issues love Torquay and this is where we would stay every time. My wife had a massage on one of the days and she thoroughly enjoy it and found it very relaxing.

Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful, I had a lovely, clean, comfy room looking out to the sea. I ate in the restaurant, good choice, the food was well presented and tasty. The only problem I had was I reserved a place in the garage, I was told there would be a sign with my name on the space, when I arriced, there was no place assigned to me, it was very difficult to see the reservations for poor lighting. When I checked in, I explained I had reserved a place but no reservation in the garage was showing, I was told that was ok, I put my car registration into the IPad and was informed the £10 parking fee would be put onto my room. On checking out, there was NO garage fee, this is an ANPR carpark, so I have been informed I will receive a parking ticket. Both Richard and Dawn were very helpful in checking everything and taking my £10 payment, they then advised what I will need to do when I recieve my parking fine. I booked a reservation in the garage to avoid any issues with parking and in particulr receiving a parking fine

Won't bother here again.

There was supposedly a terrace but getting there would be an obstacle course. They even had a sign for safety. The shower was not fit for purpose as it was maybe less than 700mm square and no space to fit through the door. The toilet seat was fixed wonky and the whole place needs investment to modernise it. Not a good buy and would prefer a refund as it was awful. The only good part were the staff.

Short break between Christmas/New Year

We had a lovely view towards Torquay theatre & harbour from our room. Breakfast was buffet style with hot & cold options. We ate in the Brasserie/Compass Bar area for our evening meals. Food was not cheap, but it was delicious! Had the lightest sticky toffee pudding ever! Room was a decent size with a shower over the bath. Tea & coffee making available in room/supplies refreshed. Hotel was nicely decorated fir Christmas. Staff were very helpful - thank you!

Great Hotel

Great stay, however a lot of the TV channels were missing and the reception kept breaking up. The carpark could do with some repair work.
