The property was amazing! There was very loud construction going on next door and the host offered to move us to another location. Everything worked out great!

We had a wonderful stay at Casa Cavu!!
Our family stayed here in July of 2024. We really enjoyed our time in Casa Cavu! The family that cared for the property are wonderful! Carolina and Fernando are so nice and their son was such a cutie! They were always available and very helpful during our one week stay. Our boys saw pelicans, hermit crabs, ghost crabs, lizards and crabs, a sea urchin…while right on the property. They enjoyed that very much. I agree with other reviews take water shoes because it is a very rocky beach behind the house. We were able to snorkel and saw many fish and big shells. I would recommend renting a vehicle. We needed to get groceries right away the first day. We did rent a SUV for 4 days for the 6 of us. It was very easy and was delivered/picked up at the house. You definitely need a vehicle to get to Tulum. We went to Tulum daily while we had the vehicle…it’s probably less than 10 min to drive into town. It was very nice just drive to the cenotes and take your time and not be rushed like when you go on tours. We did have a lot of construction next door and it was loud but we made the best of our stay. We just played music while enjoying the pool. They did warn us when booking the trip that there would be construction going on. We had a chef come and cook us dinner out last night. It was delicious! We had a awesome trip! Many memories were made. Thank you Carolina, Fernando and Matias for taking care of us during our stay at this beautiful home! Familia Salinas

Casa Cavu is wonderful!
It is a wonderful property. We loved the view and being able to walk to a few restaurants. The location is perfect. It’s a quiet area with a Cenote within walking distance. It’s convenient to Akumal and Tulúm. There is construction next door, but it wasn’t disruptive. The groundskeeper and housekeeper were attentive. A place on the beach was cleared daily. Some of the furniture needs an upgrade. The living room sofa was difficult to sit on. Cushions were uncomfortable and didn’t stay put. It could be a problem for people with limited mobility. More/nicer outdoor furniture could really put this house at the next level. We would rent this house again.

Paradise found!
We had such an amazing time at casa cavu. We spent most of our time relaxing on the beach, in the pool or on the nearby piers with hammocks. There are TONS of amazing sea shells and coral washed up on shore, if you love looking for shells, this will be perfect. The house was spotless, and the location feels secluded and private. The conditions for snorkeling were terrible because of the weather, so we didn’t get to do that, but if the weather was nicer, it would be a snorkeling paradise, the reef is right off the shore! We highly recommend letting isario (the caretaker) cook for you. He is an amazing chef. Him and his wife will give you a full service dining right in the house. Don’t miss out on his cooking! Our favorite was his tortilla soup, grilled fish and shrimp. Roccoio(?) the other caretaker kept the house SPOTLESS. She even mopped the floors every day. They take amazing care of the property. They even pick up the seaweed every morning. The dog, Lukey, was absolutely adorable and very well behaved. We really enjoyed having the dog around and he really completed our stay. He is just precious!

Wonderfully beautiful waterfront near Talum and Akumal
Casa Cavu is a beautiful house and made our stay perfect. Pool and beach were picture perfect and soooo relaxing. Kitchen was large and dining room beautiful which allowed us to have wonderful diners (wonderful grocery store in nearby Talum). The beds were wonderfully made by senora Rocio and she clean the house every day just like at a 5 star hotel :-) Isidro and Rocio were just excellent and made our stay extremely pleasant. Talum and Akumal were just 15 minutes. The Kayaks, Snorkeling, and a local Cenote just down the street added to the fun. Can't wait to return to Talum & Akumal and would definitely stay at Casa Cavu again!

Beautiful Property - Perfect Vacation Rental
I cannot say enough good things about this property and the caretakers, Isidro and Rocio. The property is located in a quiet area of Tulum right on Tankah Bay. Beautiful snorkeling right outside the property. Our family loved the property so much, that our favorite days of our vacation were simply staying back and enjoying the ocean and pool. Isidro cleaned the seaweed and raked the beach every morning. During our stay, the seaweed was a non-issue. Very small amount. Rocio cleaned the house every day. They were both diligent and it was so appreciated. The pool and home were pristine. The home had everything we needed including filtered water, oil, spices, etc. Everything was truly perfect for our family. We hope to be back again!

This place is amazing.
I'm pretty wary of trusting positive reviews these days. But this is a legitimately incredible rental. This was a splurge for us, but completely worth it. The house has it's own quiet beach, far away from the big hotels. We stayed in the city of Tulum the week before renting this house - it was loud and certainly not family friendly (we have 3 children). This house was a welcome respite from the craziness of Tulum. If you bring children, stay here and take day trips to Xel-Ha and Xplor and the ruins. Very family friendly - the kids had a blast. I recommend renting a car. Most of the activities require a short drive. Communication with the property manager was very fast and clear. The house was very well stocked. Much better than most rentals. The house is perfect.

Casa Cavu private paradise
Other than difficulty finding the property (directions need updated) and the major pot holes in the road in and out of the place - everything else was pleasant. The construction going on next door got loud at times. There were several restaurants within walking distance but not much else without leaving the area. If you are looking for a remote tranquil place to stay this is it. Beach was pretty private with not many people around when we were there. Very close to Tulum where we did grocery shopping. The caretakers are exceptional. We had one issue with the safe not opening, I contacted the property managers via email and they were on it quickly enough. No issues at all with the house itself. Wifi worked great and we were able to bring in several main stream television channels. Property is very secure.

Great Vacation
My wife and I stayed here for 6 days for a short getaway and much-needed vacation during these difficult times. The house and property are beautiful. Isidro and Rocio are great and we had a very nice meal prepared and served by them! We rented a car and did a bit of sight seeing, hung out a lot at the pool and beach and had a great time. We definitely recommend staying here.

Casa Cavu was excellent on all fronts. Very relaxing, low key, clean and comfortable. Isidro and Rocio were great and prepared excellent ceviche and seafood and kept the property clean and tidy without being noticed. The pool, beach and location were top notch. We bought groceries on the way in. Tulum is an easy 10’ cab ride for $25 for supplies and shopping.

We loved our stay at Casa Cavu!
Everything about our stay at Casa Cavu was amazing. Upon booking the house, we received all the information we could possibly need. They were extremely helpful in getting things set up, even set up appointments for COVID testing. Not relevant to the house, but when showing up for your COVID testing, definitely show up early. Isidro and Rosio the housekeepers were fantastic. Isidro cleans the beach every morning for you, and Rosio deep cleans the home. They will also do your laundry for you for a small charge since there is no laundry machine in the house. The location is perfect, very close to town but also secluded. Definitely try the restaurants nearby, there's quite a few within walking distance. Overall, an amazing stay. We miss Casa Cavu but will be back!

Beautiful location!
Stayed here a week with our 4 kids, teens and younger. Loved our time here! PROS: Location - beautiful views, sunrises, ocean sounds, step off the pool deck onto the sandy beach; Caretakers - they live on the front of the property in a small villa - so helpful and they do a great job keeping the property spotless, beautiful, and the house cleaned daily - Isidro is an amazing chef!; Location again - away from the noise and crowds - RIGHT ON THE BEACH; Space for everyone - there are 2 decks, and the upper one was great to look at the stars at night; Casa Cenote - about 150 meters down the road is a large, freshwater cenote to swim; a couple of close restaurants; only about 10 minutes from Tulum; CONS: The wind can howl through the house and rattle windows and doors during the night; as is common to the area, the beach gets piles of sargasso (seaweed) daily - BUT, Isidro did a fantastic job keeping it cleaned every day; beds are pretty stiff; beach out front is soft sand up to the waterline, then the rocks start immediately, so not great for beach swimming; snorkeling is tricky, depending on currents, because fresh water from the Casa Cenote empties in right there, creating visibility issues. Swimming out a couple hundred yards sometimes avoids the freshwater/saltwater mix, but highly variable. OVERALL - This place was just awesome for our family! Isidro and Rocio were so pleasant to have, never intrusive, and so hardworking to keep the place in top condition. In fact, those two are gems that make the place what it is. Only thing that would improve this place is better swimming beach out front. As it is, it's still hard to beat a place like this! Thanks so much!

Awesome place and great property caretakers; managers never came to greet us
The place is just stunning and the beach, house, and property managers are amazing. It's simply perfect. My few suggestions to improve are to provide updated driving instructions. These are pretty outdated and confusing. Also, the welcome note says that the property managers will meet and greet you within 24 hrs which never happened. Luckily the property caretakers are there and are simply awesome. I would totally recommend this place . . . simply can't beat the location right on the water.

Gorgeous beachside house outside of Tulum
I came to Casa Cavu with four friends to enjoy a week together. The place is beautiful - fantastic beach, delightful pool and near several cenotes. The caretakers are lovely and quite accommodating. The house was impeccably clean. If you stay here you should budget for taxis to and from Tulum, but this was worth it for the quality of the space we had. Highly recommended!

5 from NJ
Let me begin by saying, we had a wonderful time on vacation and the house had everything we needed. Isidro and Rocio were awesome and very hard working. The cooked a meal for us one night which was fabulous and much less expensive than eating out. The house was large and spacious enough to accommodate our group of 5 (in fact, we could have had 1 or 2 more). However, there were 2 main drawbacks: 1) the amount of seaweed washing ashore; and 2) no AC in the main living area. Nothing can be done about the seaweed, but we were unable to locate the buoy and had no means of tying up the kayaks as we had hoped to be able to paddle out past the seaweed for swimming and snorkeling. The kayaks were great to have, but not in the best condition - as everything breaks down quickly in that environment. As far as the AC goes, we did open up the front door and sliding door and window in the back of the house which offered a nice breeze - this was the only way we could tolerate the humidity....for a limited amount of time. After a while, people retreated into their bedrooms for some relief. Having the pool right there was crucial and we all thoroughly enjoyed it - the kids swam every day we were there. Another minor item was the refrigerator was not working well. It seemed nothing really got very cold and it took forever for the ice to form. In fact, it stopped working our last day there. I'm sure the owners will replace it. The location was not bad, but we did need a car to get around. The taxis are plentiful, but it was $25 US each way to go into Tulum. Not sure about Akumal so having a car was much less expensive and convenient. I have to say, we never felt unsafe in the house or driving anywhere. We spent a good deal of time in Akumal which is such a beautiful little area. I thought it was much nicer than Tulum. There is a ton to do all within a short drive. We did not have time to do everything, but we will likely be back again in the future and will definately consider this home again. The folks from Akumal Direct were extremely responsive and had a lot of great information.

Gorgeous house, wonderful stay, great location
We stayed for 5 nights with my sister, wife and 2 kids. We had perfect weather other than a stray T storm and Isidro made most of our BFs and dinners. He's a good (but not amazing cook - we stayed at a different VRBO last year and had a very talented chef so our expectations were high - but he was very personable and presentation was great.) Rocio as a cleaning lady was a godsend. Overall, enjoy the white sand, gorgeous bay, perfect pool, and tons of cenotes for great morning trips. Even a day trip to the ruins was nice. The only downside has nothing to do with the house, but the tons of seaweed that make the water murky and cover the beach in the mornings. Isidro does his best, but it's a problem for the whole Yucatan coast - we wish it would go away and so does everyone else I think too! We stopped at Playa De Carmen on our way back to the airport and it was even worse there. Rhett was also very helpful when the internet went out one day. Overall, would def. return if the seaweed situation clears up! Very good value!

Amazing Experience!
Our family of 4 stayed at Casa Cavu for 10 wonderful, adventurous and relaxing days in June & July. My husband and I, and our children, aged 6 and 8, swam every day, played at the beach, snorkeled in the bay, kayaked, explored local restaurants (there are a few within a short walk) and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of our stay at Casa Cavu! We took a private van from the airport to the house (scheduled by the concierge) and had a rental car delivered the next day. We ventured into nearby Tulum and Akumal for day trips, restaurants, more snorkeling, ruins, hikes, monkeys and shopping. The house is well appointed, the beds are super comfortable, the kitchen has everything you need, and the A/C in the bedrooms was perfect. Rocio and Icidro made the stay extra special. Rocio kept the house clean every day and Icidro raked the beach of seaweed and cooked us two fabulous meals. The mosquitoes were really bad, but other than that we were comfortable, felt safe, and enjoyed our vacation very much! Don't hesitate to book this place, it's fantastic!
