Historic Boho Brothel • Lake Retreat • Fast Wifi

If walls could talk, this home would have stories to tell! Originally operated as a brothel to serve the local mining community, this building is just about as old as CO's statehood. Nonetheless, the rich history and charm of this 1880's building has recently been updated with a chic, boho vibe. With an emphasis on comfort and convenience, this house is the perfect mountain escape.

We're here for you during your stay but our level of interaction is up to you. We are only a phone call or message away. You will be able to self check-in upon arrival. We are happy to assist via phone or through Airbnb before, during or after your stay.

Once a week, one of our team members will stop by the property to put out the trash cans, replenish our supplies, and/or restock sheets and towels. They will NOT enter the home. They have access to the garage or shed with a code. This day may or may not fall during your stay.

Twin Lakes, once a mining transportation hub between Leadville and Aspen, was named "the most charming summer resort in Colorado" in 1885. This idyllic town will transport you back to a simpler time. Outside the cabin, stunning mountain views of Mt. Elbert provide a backdrop for stunning sunrises and sunsets, often accompanied by passing storms and rainbows. Panoramic views of Twin Lakes, Mt. Hope, and Mt. Elbert can be enjoyed while sipping morning coffee or reading a book. Twin Lakes is located 21 miles southwest of Leadville and 36 miles east of Aspen, along the "Top of the Rockies Scenic Byway" Independence Pass. It offers plenty of outdoor activities, such as running, hiking, kayaking, mountain biking, rafting, fishing, cross-country skiing, and snowmobiling.

We are accessible year-round. Our cabin is located on a county road that gets plowed when there's snow but we still recommend AWD/4x4 with good tire tread in the snowy months (generally December to April). Winter driving conditions on the highways leading to the cabin can change in very short amounts of time. We recommend checking the conditions before you start driving our way and plan accordingly. Colorado has some specific winter driving laws pertaining to tire requirements. The fine for violating the traction law is pretty expensive so we recommend that you familiarize yourself with the law before driving during the winter.

Speaking of snow, this is the Colorado Rockies so be prepared! We do our best to plow the area in front of the cabin and shovel the walkway. However, the remote nature of this place can make these tasks delayed. We do provide a shovel in case you need to clear a path.

This uniquely remote getaway is located in the Twin Lakes Historic Village - recently named "Colorado's Prettiest Town" by the Denver Post. Nestled deep within a National Forest at the base of the Rocky's tallest mountains, you’ll stay within walking distance to trails that lead to rivers, beaches, lakes, historic sites and many untamed, magnificent natural wonders. Offering the best views in the state and immediate access to the wilderness just outside your door, this cabin will allow you to enjoy the wild, tranquil beauty like never before.

LIVING & DINING AREA:
As you walk in the front door of this historic home, you will immediately feel the light and airy energy. A dining table, coat hooks, a bench, and tall windows that let in tons of light are just past the front door. The open concept space flows into the living area; a freestanding electric fireplace sits atop the eclectic mosaic tiles in the main living space. sits atop gorgeous eclectic mosaic tiles. White shiplap walls, a large velvet couch, coffee tables, and a mounted 42'' TV complete the living space and make this the perfect room for enjoying your group or relaxing and watching a movie.

BEDROOMS:
The first bedroom "Molly's Chamber" has a comfortable queen sized bed, large windows with black out curtains, nightstands, a chair and plenty of space for your luggage.

The second bedroom "Emmeline's Chamber" features a large king sized bed, wooden nightstands, large windows with black out curtains, and a bench. The gorgeous white shiplap walls continue throughout the two bedrooms.

The bathroom includes a walk-in shower with soap, shampoo and conditioner, a toilet and a large vanity provide enough space for your small group to get ready for the day's adventures.

KITCHEN:
A large industrial farmhouse kitchen with stainless steal appliances and plenty of granite countertop space make this the perfect kitchen for cooking on your trip to the mountains. All cooking essentials, kettle, coffee maker, microwave, electric stove/oven, and a huge fridge provide everything you need for whipping up fantastic meals.

OUTDOOR SPACE:
Outside on the front porch a couple of chairs and a small table are provided for your use. These are perfect for relaxing and enjoying the small town vibes.

Lovely and quiet place
We really enjoyed our stay and loved the quiet change of pace. I live in Denver and it was so nice to find a place in the mountains that wasn’t commercialized and filled with tourists. We did a few hikes and paddle boarding and it was a great reset! Would go again!

Great spot in Twin Lakes
Loved the location and the vibe of this charming spot. Had hiccups with checkin, communication from the management agency and listing accuracy (there is no fireplace... it's an electric heater. this was a must for us, so pretty disappointing), but apart from that we had a wonderful stay. Would definitely recommend this place and book again.
