Urbanna has lots of quaint shops right in town. Our favorites are: "The Gilded Crown" (antiques and more!), "Ballgown Barefoot", and "Lowe Tide" boutique, and more. Feel free to book a class at "River House Creations" where you can make glass art or ceramics. There's a liquor store and pharmacy in town as well. Two local grocery stores are just a short drive away. Beautiful Urbanna Town Marina is just 4.5 miles away. COMING SOON TO URBANNA IN 2024: Small Town Burger outdoor eatery with fire pit tables, another new restaurant (upscale?), a massage parlor, and a yoga studio!
You will enjoy your stay at this private setting. Just wait til you see the starry night sky!
A BIT OF HISTORY ABOUT THIS PROPERTY: The property is located within Remlik Hall Farm. Originally owned by millionaire, Willis Sharpe Kilmer, who came to town in 1909 and built a 32-room Tudor Mansion on the original 1,000-acre farm. Soon after he arrived, West Urbanna Wharf was renamed Remlik Wharf (Remlik is Kilmer backwards). The marina is now called Remlik Marina and can be seen across the waterway from our home. Mr. Kilmer owned a few famous racehorses, one of whom was named "Sun Beau" (which our street is named after - this roads extends off of Race Track Road). A short walk down the road and you will see some cattle grazing on the property. Mr. Kilmer was owner of the racehorse named Exterminator, winner of the 1918 Kentucky Derby. He was the breeder and owner of Sun Briar, the largest money maker until Seabiscuit in 1939.
