The staff was incredible. The food was hit or miss -- for instance, a "ribeye" steak was ordered but was actually a thin microwaved Salisbury steak. Yhe breakfast room service was ok, snack/meal was cold, microwaved fare. The liquor is watered down and they do not have Diet Coke.

My only suggestion would be more activities at the main pool. It was very quiet with nothing going on. The resort is beautiful and staff was amazing. The nighttime entertainment and dance club were great. My whole group loved the food and there are so many dining options.

The staff was great they were attentive and responsive to our requests but not in over bearing. They would actually take the time to talk to you to get an understanding what you want and how you like certain things. Evening shows were a nice touch. I really enjoyed my stay at Excellence El Carmen. The service was fantastic and every restaurant exceeded my expectations. I also found the night life to be very entertaining and there was always something to do. The swim-up bar and private beach were my two favorite things. I would love to return some time.

After booking my trip, I had to cancel the reservation just 10 minutes later due to a medical emergency. My doctor informed me that I am unable to travel because I need to undergo major surgery to treat a cancer-related condition. Expedia has made multiple attempts to reach your office and has requested my medical documentation, which I provided, but unfortunately Expedia has been unable to make contact with your property. I kindly ask for your prompt assistance in resolving this matter for either a full refund or a credit. As I am unable to travel for at least 90 days following my surgery, I am kindly requesting either a full refund or a credit for a future stay at your property. As of today, Expedia and the resorts have been bouncing me around. Neither is willing to give me a credit to the property so I can travel when I get well.

The receptionist was very helpful. His name was Wilnol. He was the most helpful person on the Resort. He definitely convinced me to upgrade my room. Remember his name. It is Wilnol. 5 Stars for Wilnol. The Magna Restaurant was perfect. On a scale of 1 to 10 I give it a 10. They have an excellent Tomahawk Steak and it comes with the Excellence Membership upgrade.

The food is garbage. Essentially the same level of food quality (and probably less variety) than the low end all inclusives. For a resort that bills itself as having above average food, it was shockingly bad. The rooms are nice in pictures but a bit tired in person and cleanliness is not great. Our room stunk of sewage and had a mouldy smell. After 24 hours, we were offered a different room that smelled so strongly of cigarettes we opted to stick with the sewage room. Everything else about the place was equivelant to the very low end all inclusives. Waste of money
