Pleasant stay
The location of this hotel was good, within walking distance to the port and a slightly longer walk to the beach. The hotel itself is small, with only a few rooms. Check in was easy, and the hotel staff gave me a key for the front door and a code to get past another door (if coming in past 11 pm). The room itself was clean and had enough space for a small suitcase, which was fine for me. It only had a few outlets and the bathroom was a little on the smaller/tight side. The a/c worked fine for me, and I was glad to have it. The bed was a little firmer than I am used to, but it was okay for a few nights. The small continental-style breakfast (bread/some fruit and coffee) was a bonus. Overall, it was a pleasant stay.

Exceptionally convenient and functional location. Excellent level of service. Very clean and cozy. The only inconvenience for families with small children is the noisy street. It did not bother us, but it is worth remembering. An additional option is a light breakfast included in the price. We would really like to come back!)))

I was skeptical in booking a Hostel for the first time but I loved the location and the place. The staff were professional and friendly. I only got to interact with Lorena. She was super helpful. Great place to book for solo travelers. if you going to sightsee the whole morning through the evening. 1. The hostel is close to transportation and bike rentals. 2. The beach is an 18mins walk or 5mins bike ride. You also have many restaurants by the beach. you might need a reservation if the restaurant is busy. Tip: The restaurants will close from 5pm-8pm but you might find some bars open around hidden corner around the Hostel such as Argentinian place call “Fuego y Pasión, Bar restaurant Andres or StoneCastle Brewery S.L. La Fábrica de Cerveza“ I would recommend this hostel if you just need a place to sleep after a long day sightseeing the center of València. In addition the hostel is easy to get from the airport. You don’t need to take a taxi. You just take the metro (train) from the airport and walk to the hostel if you only have a carrying on luggage. (Just use your Google map if you don’t mind using your phone provider )

Good overall 2 night stay
Very solid hotel with decent amenities, comfy bed, free breakfast, and great location, thats overall a good value. However, be warned the wifi is terrible and did not work at all (in our room at least) and the walls are thin so if you have loud neighbors who like to yell or slam doors early on the morning then be prepared to deal with that

Very friendly and helpful staff and the hostel is in a great location. Only issues are the walls must be thin as we could hear our neighbours conversation like they were in our room and we were situated by reception, which is clearly a busy area. Definitely a great place to stay, just get a room on a higher floor.

We really enjoyed our stay at Balcon Al Mar. Staff were friendly and helpful, the location is great - 5 min walk from a tram stop and 15 min walk to beach. The rooms are fairly basic but very clean and comfortable - the mattress was very comfy! Air conditioning is brilliant and wifi was free and reliable. The shower worked well which is always important for me! For a more budget place this was amazing, all the things that were important to me were great and would stay here again.

Great location! Very clean. Staff helpful and were extremely accommodating for our late arrival, even with a flight delay. This is a very good option for 2 or 3 people (we were a family of 3 in a room and it was absolutely fine)…A/C worked very well, free wifi, hairdryer in room. 5 mins walk to the marina, 15 mins walk to the beach. Definitely recommend hiring bikes to cycle to other attractions and into the old town - that takes 20 mins on a bike - loads of cycle paths from outside the hotel and all over the city. Only additional comment I’d make is access to a kettle/coffee facilities in the room would be nice. Overall, it was great and we loved it here!

For sea and beach party lovers
Our stay overall was really cool. We arrived early, dropped the bags and got to enjoy sightseeing around. Hotel has really great view to Marina! The room is small, but has everything to make stay comfortable. We had twin bed and convertible sofa for two people and we decided to sleep one on each instead of sharing pretty tiny bed. Stuff was friendly and helpful, they replied to requests we had in a fast and welcoming manner. Hotel location is perfect for those mostly interested in the beach and Art museum. If you’d like to explore Old Town Area it’s a bit of a walk - around 45-50 min - or a short cab ride(we did both). There are few supermarkets around hotel where you can buy water, fruits and other stuff. At hotel they provide tea and coffee. Also, it’s walking distance to beach clubs for those who likes to party. In general we had a very pleasant stay and would like to come back some day. Thanks!

Smelly room and in bad neighborhood
The Hostal Balcon al mar is about a 15 minute walk to the beach so I thought it would be a nice place to stay on our one night in Valencia. Next time I will look for a place on the beach. The area the hotel is located in is a bit scary. The entrance to the hotel is on a side street and does not look like a hotel entrance. The sign does not say "Hostal Balcon al mar" - just "Balcon al mar" so I didn't realize at first that was the entrance. Reception is on the first floor (up 1 level from ground floor). The people at Reception were very nice. When we got to the room the layout was OK but the room smelled from being damp & not leaving the AC on. The room had a balcony with a table & 2 chairs. We sat on the balcony & then realized the balcony next to ours was cracked & coming off the wall - that was the end of enjoying the balcony. They said it was safe to park on the street but we didn't feel comfortable doing that so we parked in a public parking garage. I would not recommend staying at Hostal Balcon al mar!

Lovely hotel in a great location! Staff speak excellent English and are very nice. Explained the local area well and helped us with any questions. Rooms clean, ours had a great view too. Very comfy. Would definitely stay here again!
