Pretty good location, interesting old hotel, but got put on second floor above dumpster which was loud and no view, even though the hotel was far from full and it’s off season. Not sure if this was a person of color issue (me) or lower Expedia rate issue, but wished I’d paid less at nearby hotels for the same experience. Thought I’d get something better paying for a place on the water.

Hidden Gem
Wow Sylvia hotel is a hidden treasure with so much history. The staff were all friendly and welcoming in the hotel and restaurant. Close to wonderfull food shops, cafes and Stanley Park. Felt very safe in this neck of the woods.

I have seen this hotel for years, but never stayed as a local. I went for a girls nights and booked a very spacious room with 2 queens, we ended up getting a room with 3 queens and a pull-out, so that we each had our own bed, which was wonderful. One bed was in it's own room. The beds were very comfortable(including the pull-out), bed linens clean. Check in was easy and staff very friendly. The restaurant staff, food and service were great and the live music was great, and a respectful volume, so you could still have a conversation at your table. Highly recommend a stay at the Sylvia, it's like stepping into a different era.
