"Driftwood Island Retreat" Spectacular View, Private Waterfront on James Point.

Located on the beautiful west side of Vashon Island, this is a unique, renovated waterfront home on a privately owned sandy beach with a permanent and attached floating dock. It has an expansive, spectacular 180-degree view of Puget Sound facing Gig Harbor to the south, the Kitsap Peninsula to the west and Mount Baker to the north. There is no other place on the island quite like it. Our 3-bedroom home is beautifully furnished to make you feel comfortable and at home. The refinished wooden walls give it a warm, rustic, retreat atmosphere. You can enjoy the view from the inside of the house or comfortably sit on the west and north facing wrap around deck. The beautiful westward water view is relaxing and breathtaking. You may experience colorful sunsets, glistening calm or whitecap and windy stormy waters. Every day is a unique experience, never the same. The property is accessible to smaller boats during the spring, summer and early fall using our floating dock.

The largest bedroom is furnished with a queen size bed, the middle guest room has a full-size double bed, and the smallest bedroom has a single twin bed. The house sleeps a maximum of 5 guests.

We have a flexible cancellation policy and are following all VRBO recommended cleaning and disinfecting protocols. It is our top priority for visitors to stay healthy and feel safe.

The kitchen is fully equipped with modern appliances including dishwasher and microwave oven as well as fresh coffee and tea. Towels, fresh bedding, shampoo and soaps are provided. The bathroom is a 3/4 bath with walk in shower. There is a full laundry area with washer and dryer for your convenience.

The living room is comfortably furnished and has a Smart TV with HDMI cable, DVD player and Echo Dot. Free Wi-Fi, Netflix, Amazon Prime and Disney Plus are included.

The dining room seats 6. The kitchen is open to the dining area where there is extra counter seating.

Our sandy beach is home to a variety of sea life, mammals and birds. You will likely see eagles, blue heron, the occasional sea otter, seal or orca whale if you keep your eyes to the water. There is a large sand dollar bed and multiple shellfish along the beach. Sand toys available.

We are located about 5 minutes from the center of town for quick access to the local scene. Vashon Island is a small community, home to many artists, musicians, farmers, theatre, restaurants, coffee shops, shopping and much more. You may choose to attend Island events and visit landmarks and local businesses or decide to just experience a relaxing, quiet vacation on the beach.

Heaven in the Rain
Stunning definition of the word "cozy"! The location is beyond amazing-- the cabin reminded me of my Gramps' cabin in Colorado, but with every single detail already considered. The beds were fine, kitchen fantastic, the wrap-around, covered porch great--- and this arm of Puget Sound was in our front yard! The Pacific Northwest's "atmospheric river" was there for the whole time, but we were safe and warm and had lots of windows to view the interesting ship traffic from south to north in the Sound. HUGE shells on the little beach when the rain let up! Saw several big sea lions on purposeful journeys, and I am sure some orca went by, but we missed them. Vashon Island is paradise to me---we could not have been happier. Thanks so much, Mary Ann!

Awesome spot on the beach.
Peaceful, scenic, all we needed. The hosts are awesome - available if you need them, otherwise they leave you to enjoy. The house is well equipped and comfortable, off the main roads a bit, but that is part of the charm.

Maryann is the best owner I ever meet on VRBO its not one thing that you will not find in her home, its so welcoming, u name it and its there, even fuzzy socks for a cold night. Amazing! This was the best VRBO we’ve ever stayed at. The place had everything you needed and great amenities (even rubber boots for walking on the beach) and a fully equipped kitchen. The view is amazing, what a peaceful place to relax. We will definitely stay here again.

This property was wonderfully cozy and picturesque. It was well equipped and the setting was beautiful. We stayed there for two nights for our son's wedding at a venue about 10 minutes away, so we didn't have much of a chance to enjoy the home or the outdoors since we were gone most of the time. We would love to come back for a longer stay.

Just what we needed, a perfect escape
The location is perfect, quiet and right on the water. Beach with plenty of sand and treasures brought in by the tide. Geese every evening, nesting boxes on the pier, crows and seagulls and cormorants. The house is lovely and comfortable and well stocked for cooking your own meals, plenty of towels and sand toys. A great place to set out and explore from, and come back to. Overall, I can’t imagine there’s a better place to stay on the island and I hope we can come back soon! Thank you for a great and restful vacation.

As always, terrific. Quiet and peaceful. House is immaculate. Easy in and out with my kayak. MaryAnn lives nearby. She always meets you when you arrive and is always available. Driftwood Retreat is a DELIGHT!
Our annual Sisters Celebration was one of our best in 20 years. The accommodations were beyond our expectations, with a full kitchen and great appliances. We spent our time exploring the island and just spending wonderful time watching the boats and wildlife, including a morning visit from a young eagle. We encourage you to visit!

Wonderful getaway!

Another wonderful visit to Vashon
Thanks to our hosts for another wonderful stay! As always, the house was perfect and the setting even better! Vashon is the perfect PNW getaway, with a short ferry ride, great coffee houses, fun shopping, beaches and the lighthouse. Such a neat community and we feel tucked right into it while we stay at Driftwood. We love visiting this house in the winter for the NW moodiness and beach combing. The house is great for our family and comes equipped with everything you need to prepare meals, play games, light a bonfire on the beach and get cozy. Communication with the host is super easy. Unlike some vrbos that have so many rules and duties that it feels hostile-driftwood feels very relaxed and we felt welcomed. Can’t wait to return!
