Ängavallen in a pig farm! Something I think isn’t mentioned on hotels.com. They also have cows, sheep and grow vegetables, but their main focus definitely seems to be on pigs. I don’t eat meat, and the whole concept of breeding animals to kill and eat them makes me uneasy. So if I had known, I wouldn’t have booked this place. However I’m glad I did, because we really did enjoy our stay and the pigs and piglets that lived right outside our room were adorable. (I should add to Ängavallens defense that these animals do have a good life compared to most livestock).
This property is truly beautiful. The white stucco main building (where the owners live) is true Skåne perfection. The old brick barn is turned into a restaurant. New buildings are added for housing guests. It all looks like something our of Town & County, Conde Nast Traveller or Departures Magazine. The food was great too.
I wish this place would double their prices, hire more staff and bump everything up a notch. More options on the menu, adding a bar/lounge, maybe a pool (the beaches around are jam packed). We usually stay 5-star and the 3-star service experience was a little annoying. Especially given that this property has such an amazing potential. Lots of American people would spend $2000/night to stay in a place like this! Please Ängavallen: turn this into a true luxury retreat!
