Roof constuction started prompley at 8am...after a night out on the town, that was not what we were looking forward to. There was a large crack in one of the windows and door knob to closet bent in. Staff at front desk said to tal to manager who was off until the next day and wouldn't even come close to talking about any of the issues. This place good be nice, even great, but due to poor managment and subpar service its only benifit is when you leave.

The property and staff are great. The only small issue I had was being over 6 foot tall, the shower head comes up to my chest.

The little hotel is quaint- nice change from the cookie-cutter chain hotels. The floors are wood in the rooms, and there are nice homey touches. Cons: the bed was just average, the TV was really small. Good price though! Easy to find as well.

The entire hotel needs an update. You could describe it as “rustic” but that would apply generally not to specifics such as scratchy sheets and a very dated bathroom with no grab bars for older folks. The breakfast was adequate except that the orange juice was so old it tasted fermented. Overall for the price it was sufficient but not enticing enough to warrant another stay.

A comfortable stay in a good location
After coming to Ventura for 2 nights every week, I decided to try Clocktower Inn as I was familiar with the restaurant attached and it’s in a neighborhood I know. I liked the fact that the hallways to the rooms are accessible only by using your room key. As a single woman traveling, I like the safety factor. The room was a little small. Queen bed, a desk (with the hardest wooden chair!) a microwave, fridge, coffee maker and tv. There was a wooden chair with leather seat and back which was somewhat more comfy than the Spanish colonial style wooden chair mentioned earlier. Oh there was also a round wooden table back in the corner between the bed and the windows. Not very convenient for setting water or coffee or phone while in bed. A small nightstand would have been better. The decor is Spanish colonial style which I do appreciate. However, since it’s starting to get cold at night, the red tile floors are quite chilly on bare feet. Bring slippers! Luckily the unit had decent heat and air. Bed was comfortable but the pillows are “durable” (hard). The breakfast buffet was standard, but no hot proteins. Waffle maker, hot and cold cereal, fruit bowl, yogurt. Didn’t see decaf coffee at the buffet. I bring my instant decaf and they had hot water for tea so all was good. I got a discount on the room from Hotels.com so I gave it a shot. I would recommend this place, but have my favorite I’ll probably go back to.
