We visited in the summer after puffins had left - loved the peace and quiet. We arrived at midnight, quite a scary (but not dangerous) drive to the town from north of westfjords at night tbh.
Nonetheless, we had a very comfortable stay. A few hiccups but no biggie.
Firstly our booking didn’t show up at reception at all. The lady said she had quite a few from Expedia…? Anyway after showing her the booking info it was all good. We even got upgraded to an en-suite room! :)
The en-suite room was in a strip of rooms across from the hotel. You entered into a hallway area with a bathroom on the left and another door ahead which leads you into the bedroom with a sea view.
Wifi was poor, as was mobile signal BUT if you used your phone at window level close to the window (not below or above) you got some sort of signal, or if you used it in the entrance area outside the bathroom that also worked!
Room was old fashioned but in immaculate condition, almost no scuffs on the walls. Electric heaters worked brilliantly as well. Room also had a cupboard, desk, kettle, comfy chairs and a coffee table.
Bathroom was great until it ran out of hot water for some reason. We didn’t create a fuss as the main building had shower cubicles that we used comfortably instead.
Breakfast was great, it was served in the main building, next to the sweater/souvenir shop area. Lots of info on birds/puffins to prepare for latrabjarg! Wifi also worked well here.
Would definitely return!
