I rarely leave reviews but felt I needed to to help others. We stayed at the Tivoli last year and it was fabulous but unavailable for our dates. I chose the Crowne Plaza as it’s supposed to be five star but was disappointed from the second we arrived. The hotel is in desperate need of a returb and is simply incomparable to Tivoli. The check in staff did not offer to assist with our bags and the corridors have zero natural light which felt quite oppressive. The breakfast was good but the daytime staff in the pool bar areas were frankly hostile. No smiles, no making you feel like you are on holiday, just silent serving if you could get a drink. The umbrellas can’t be operated manually around the pool, you have to find a member of staff with a drill to do the operation- this took ages and is so inconvenient if you feel like you need a little shade at any point- I had to sit in the bushes until I could find someone. Bar staff refused to give us a champagne glass for the room and demanded we call room service even though we were going to the room- no poolside towels provided unless you give them a 30 euro deposit despite the fact they have your room number for returns! I paid £1500 for 3 nights and came away feeling robbed. No mini bar in the rooms, well there was a fridge but nothing stocked in it. The extra hangers I requested arrived the following day. Despite the fact the hotel is so dated, the staff could have made the difference and every request felt like an inconvenience

Great hotel with reasonably priced lunch, drinks etc. Breakfast buffet is really great. The hotel is only a 10 minute walk to the marina. Beach was lovely too and water was energising!

We loved our stay here. Service was exceptional! Clean and smells so good. Great bar and pool. Easy access to the beach. A sign at the entrance would be helpful as it appears you’re pulling into another hotel. The boardwalk was nice but I wouldn’t venture to the left as we felt an unsafe vibe, but the Marina area was great.

I recently stayed at Crowne Plaza Vilamoura for a few nights, and while there were some positive aspects, a few issues left me feeling underwhelmed. To start with, I was disappointed to encounter silverfish in the bathroom on multiple occasions. This made the bathroom feel less clean and put a damper on the overall experience. Cleanliness is a basic expectation, and this was definitely below par. Another issue was the EUR 25 deposit required per towel. While I understand the need for security, this seemed excessive, especially for a standard hotel. It felt more like a hassle than a necessity. Finally, the queue at breakfast was quite long each morning. The food was decent, but having to wait so long just to get seated and served was frustrating, especially when trying to start the day on a good note. Overall, while the hotel had some good points, these issues made my stay less enjoyable than I had hoped.

On the whole, the hotel is ok and the staff are reasonably friendly. The breakfast is good. Cleaning services are a little mediocre. The gym is well equipped. The pool is a bit cold. Charging for the use of the balls for the pool table and for coffee pods in the rooms (for a 5 star hotel), really leaves a bad impression. A very basic knowledge of behavioural science should tell the management that these practices should be revised, as should asking for a deposit to use the towels at the pool. I don’t think customers will have a terrible experience at this hotel, but I personally wouldn’t visit again, or to the Faro region for that matter. Andalusia is much better (far more culture), and cheaper.

Our experience at the Crowne Plaza, Vilamoura, was generally positive. The staff demonstrated friendliness and helpfulness, and the hotel offers comprehensive facilities. However, there are notable areas for improvement: Despite its 5-star rating, the hotel’s cleanliness fell short of expectations. Notably, the outdoor pool requires attention (there was even a deceased fish at the bottom). Frequent calls to reception were necessary due to housekeeping oversights. Insufficient towels, face towels, and water bottles were recurring issues, although room cleaning remained satisfactory. The restaurant’s dinner service left room for improvement. Fortunately, the abundance of dining options in the area mitigated this concern. The kids’ pool was uncomfortably cold during cooler days, prompting us to use the larger pool instead. On a positive note, the hotel’s location is exceptional, mere steps from the beach and a convenient 15-minute walk to the Marina. The breakfast selection is commendable, and the Spa, while pleasant, could benefit from additional attention, similar to the outdoor pool.
