The bedroom is spacious and inviting with stream and mountain views and its own private lanai. With doors and windows on three sides, the room stays cool and comfortable even on the warmest tropical days. The King bed is comfortable and lavishly adorned.

The tile bathroom is well ventilated and includes a shower/tub, towels and paper products. The Wailua Hideaway features a private laundry room for your convenience as well as all linens, beach towels and laundry soap.

Standing at approximately 120 feet, Secret Falls is a sight to be seen and the perfect backdrop for Picnics, photos and fun!

Or, if you'd prefer, you can see the Wailua River by motorized boat. Several tour companies offer hourly tours up the Wailua River to the famous Fern Grotto. Tours include Hawaiian entertainment by local musicians and hula dancers.

The location is wonderful! It’s so easy to get to the north and south beaches and attractions. It’s tucked away from all the hustle and bustle of the island and feels so peaceful after a day exploring. Pulling in to the neighborhood is nothing special. But when you pull into the driveway you are surrounded by trees and greenery.The backyard is even more enclosed, with a vista across the creek to more greenery. Truly very private, quiet and welcoming. The whole space is well laid out and equipped with almost everything you might need.Kitchen was apportioned with all utensils you might need. We put it to good use for our 7 days. I highly recommend David and Lynda's place. Thanks!

The place had everything we needed and loved that it was tucked and hidden away from the commotion of the resorts. Check-in was smooth and straightforward. This was our first time visiting Hawaii and we were glad we chose this hideaway for our getaway. David and Lynda’s space is a dream! After a stressful rental car checkout experience, arriving here to fresh flowers throughout the apartment, chocolate treats, and a welcome card were just what we needed to feel welcome on Kauai! The space—including the bed and couch—are beyond comfortable, the kitchen is spacious and thoroughly stocked, and the view and sounds from the lanai are heavenly. Centrally located, this apartment could not have suited us better. Thank you, David and Lynda!

The rental was on the lower floor of this 1970s home. It had all the amenities we needed, including a large fridge, oven, Keurig machine and even a washer and dryer! We could have used a cookie sheet, decaf coffee for evenings, and caffeinated black tea. Comfortable king bed, nice linens, lots of hefty beach towels, plus a beach umbrellas, 2 sand chairs, and a cooler were very appreciated. Great deck overlooking gorgeous garden backyard. Host David was friendly, available, and knew the area well. Max the dog is adorable! We enjoyed the proximity to north and south island beaches, restaurants, and even booked a 1-day birding trip to Waimea Canyon to see 2 of the 4 species that are critically endangered.

Aloha, the Wailua Hideaway was perfect for the way we like to travel: serene, private, away from the crowds, connected to the natural world – and with a good kitchen! Everything about the space is comfortable, practical, and attractive. Lots of great touches like flower arrangements, a rice cooker, and plenty of hangers in the closet. We unfortunately were not able to meet the hosts, as they were off-island, but their friend who filled in for them was friendly and helpful. I'm sure we will be staying there again! Mahalo ā nui loa!

This is the nicest place that I have ever stayed, anywhere in the world. The property is in an excellent location, and yet it feels very private. The kitchen is extremely well equipped. The hosts, Lynda & David were happy to answer any questions that I had regarding sightseeing on the island. A visitor could easily spend weeks here. I highly recommend these accommodations.

Quiet and Conveniently Located
We really enjoyed the location of this property. Tucked away in a quiet neighborhood while being less than a 10 minute drive to Safeway. Friendly greetings by owner upon arrival then giving us space to quietly enjoy our visit with instructions to reach out if we are in need of anything. Great for 2 adults. Was a bit cramped with our 11 year grandson in tow.

Overall, the space itself was OK. It was a nice, quiet neighborhood. The unit was dated but we didn’t mind, it had all the necessary amenities. What we did not enjoy was the infestation of bugs in the rooms, weevils, etc,. But maybe when you stay in other than a modern hotel, with lush nature outside your door, insects are to be expected. Host David was nice, the location was great with interesting activities nearby.

Incredible Stay
We cannot emphasize enough how amazing David and Lynda's home is. From the moment we arrived to the day we (sadly) left, the Wailua Hideaway was a dream! The back garden, looking out over the stream and mountain, was perfect for morning bird watching with a cup of coffee, and the house was stocked with everything you would need. Plus, it was beautifully decorated and so inviting. If we are back in on Kauai, we would not hesitate to stay here again! Mahalo, David and Lynda!

Our stay at Wailua hideaway was wonderful. It was located in a quiet neighborhood. Our hosts Lynda and David were welcoming and easily accessible. Even though they live above the apartment it was very private. The view from the bedroom and livingroom was beautiful with lush flowering trees. We had everything we needed in this fabulous oasis.

Perfect get-away for a couple
The house is located near the end of a cul-de-sac in a quiet neighborhood. It's a short drive to almost anywhere on the island so the location is great. The hosts were vey polite and while they live upstairs, they don't make any noise and you would never realize they were home. They have plenty of necessities including beach chairs, umbrella, kayak, etc. The kitchen is well stocked so it is easy to cook your own food. The only complaint is the lack of air conditioning but that's not a big deal since it cools down a bit at night.

Beautiful, Peaceful Spot !
What a beautiful spot! A lovely unit, very clean, with a gorgeous backyard view off the lanai and a lot of nice, personal touches. We felt so welcome. It was a peaceful place to sit and watch birds in the mornings - so many birds! A White-rumped Shama was a regular visitor singing in the lime tree right outside. The hosts were so kind, and provided beach towels, chairs, umbrella, and cooler which were essential for beach trips. They live upstairs, but it felt very private and quiet. The kitchen has all the basics including coffee. We did a bit of cooking while we were there. The bed was comfy. I slept so well when I was staying here! The cane toads can get a bit loud sometimes, but on Kauai you're right in the middle of beautiful nature. These things - like the chickens! - are part of the experience. The location of this unit was perfect. Up in a beautiful area away from the hubub, but also not far from anything. It's a great place to explore the whole island from. Opaeka'a Falls is right down the road, and there are a lot of lovely little spots nearby to visit like the Hindu monastery and the chocolate farm, and the little Country Store. There are also many beaches nearby. Mahalo David and Lynda for a lovely visit! We would stay again.
