Overall an excellent experience. Hotel staff very helpful and firendly. Perfectly situated in DC for access to Georgetown (e.g., Blues Alley, Martins Tavern, etc.). Short walk to Whole Foods, Trader Joes. Full working kitchen. The only negatives are parking cost/access, and an annoying mechanical problem in the suite that was not resolved. Have stayed at the River Inn before, and would do so again if I find myself back in the DC area.

LIke coming back home. Great staff, including at the restaurant. Only 2 minor issues, one was that I didn't realize that the limited TV stations just needed a reset. I didn't ask until checkout. 2nd was that it was a minor inconvenience that the restaurant bills could not be charged to the room.

This is a vintage property that has been redone so but it’s still quirky and the paint is thick — which is not a problem for me. It’s well maintained. The bed and sofa were comfortable, the linens were good and the staff was really excellent — friendly, communicative and helpful. A for them. I did not need a kitchen since I was there for business but I can see the appeal for vacationers. Ok here’s the downside: I was laying in bed doomscrolling social media one night when a mouse ran out from under the couch. We were both surprised at each other’s presence. I stomped my feet on the floor and it ran back under the couch. Then I picked up the phone and called the front desk. The woman who answered was appropriately dismayed and immediately sent up a key to another room on the other side and another floor of the property. It was my second night so I had to pack everything back up and move to the next room and unpack again so I was awake way too late and wasn’t super fresh in the morning for work. they handled it right. And did not see another mouse or insect or anything else in the other room or in the property, which I found very clean. Hoping this was an anomaly and nobody else notes such an experience in their reviews because i generally enjoyed my stay.

A Charming Little Nestled Gem
The staff were the nicest and friendliest people I have met when staying at a hotel. I instantly felt at home. The room was priced well. It was a little dated, but some upgrades, like Netflix and nicely framed artwork, were appreciated. The neighborhood is adorable and safe, nestled right between Trader Joe's and Whole Foods, so you can easily utilize the kitchen and save lots of money on going out. I hope to return here again!

This hotel is highly overrated. I relied on prior reviews. I shouldnt have. Do the people doing the reviews actually stay at the hotel? Stairs only lead down to the entrance, meaning you have to carry your luggage down steps. The room was old. Really old. The bathroom was worse than student accommodation and i was barely able to dry myself in it after the shower, as it was so small. The hotel had not yet turned on the heating (at the end of October!), so the rooms were cold. The towels were small and well worn. The bathroom was so, very small, and the shower had little water power. I would not recommend this hotel in to anyone, and even less so at the price of over $350 for this room. Ridiculous. I was really disappointed and appalled.

Great stay! Spacious room with kitchenette and living room. Love the Foggy Bottom neighborhood and proximity to GW. Easy to walk to restaurants, Trader Joe’s or Whole Foods and the metro. Brandie is always so welcoming and kind!
