We made an initial mistake by bringing along our dogs, but as soon as we arrived and read the rules on the table we realized pets were not allowed so we immediately made arrangements with a nearby boarder we found on Rover.com. The host was super abrasive toward us about this, even as I was apologizing profusely and showing her receipts for the boarding bill.
Afterward, she was slow to respond to our questions throughout our stay, but she did eventually answer us within several hours.
The home is across from a beautiful lake, and the beach is a short walk (maybe 3-4 minutes) from the house. As advertised, there was a canoe and kayak available for use and we all had a great time fishing on the lake in the evenings.
It was a bit hard to figure out the clubhouse locations - there were no directions or official names for the clubhouses, and the host was slow to respond, but after some googling and phone calls, we were able to find one a map. For reference, Clubhouse 2 is the better one - it includes an indoor pool, outdoor pool, air hockey and pool table, outdoor volleyball/tennis/basketball/horseshoes and some swings for the little ones. That clubhouse is a 10 minute drive, and is located at 206 Old Portland Rd, for anyone who may also be struggling to find it.
The home itself: modest, open, and clean enough. There was this weird thing where at night all these thousands of gnats(?) would get in the house somehow (all the windows were shut), and in the morning I'd wake up and the front and back doors and all the window sills were COVERED with tiny bugs. I found a vacuum in a closet and just made a habit of vacuuming them up every morning before we ate breakfast.
The beds were awful. Springy, loose, and angled oddly. We all slept rather poorly and woke up sore.
The only other real drawback to the house was the distinct lack of towels. Towels aren't something I think to bring when traveling, so unfortunately we didn't bring additional ones, and the house itself had very few to use between showers for everyone and going to the beach/pool throughout the day. I had to wash towels every day and even then we were still short.
The neighborhood was nice, peaceful, but the neighbor did have a dog that was tied outside often and seemed aggressive, just a heads up if you have little kiddos.
Overall, it was a great week - enjoyed the peace, the lake, the pool and time with family.
