Traditional Irish Cottage Offering 5 Star Luxury

Cuanbeg, when translated from Irish, means ‘Little Haven'. It is an authentic, traditional Irish cottage which was originally constructed in the 1930’s. It has been beautifully restored and now offers a unique experience combining all of the charm and tradition that you would expect of a cottage with the highest levels of luxury and comfort, including a state of the art hot tub, (currently out of order), offering the perfect way to relax and unwind after a hard day, at the beach, walking, fishing or golfing.

Cuanbeg has 3 double bedrooms which can comfortably sleep 8 people with the addition of 2 fold out beds. The main bedroom is en suite and there is also a communal bathroom incorporating a bath and separate power shower. The traditional appearance of the newly fitted kitchen cleverly houses all of the conveniences one could wish for, including a range style cooker, double oven, microwave, dishwasher and a large fridge freezer.

Property was clean and comfortable.Plenty of cooking supplies. View was spectacular. Short trip into Caherciveen or Waterville. Gillian was great at communicating. John the caretaker gave us a ride into town because we got a flat on our rental. Lovely sheep came to visit everyday. Safe and quiet. Next time I will stay longer!

Peaceful
Our week’s stay at the cottage was very pleasant and peaceful. We enjoyed watching the sheep and the scenery from the cottage was beautiful. We had difficulty finding the cottage as there are no road names and after an overnight flight from Toronto and then a four hour drive from Dublin the directions didn’t work on our phone. With some relief we finally spotted it and arrived.

Quiet and charming
We stayed at this lovely little home for 4 nights. It was a bit farther out then I realized but after getting over the shock of the tiny roads it was a beautiful drive. The home does not have any extra comfort items such as shampoo, conditioner, soap, salt, pepper, coffee (but has a nespresso machine), laundry soap, extra toilet paper or paper towels, etc. to be fair these items were not in the listing either so it is listed 100% accurate. Also, the trash has to be sorted and taken to the local town on your last day. Again, all of this is in the listing so no surprises if you read the listing completely. Owner is very responsive and patient to explain any answers which I had a lot. Property is super clean, bright and peaceful. Would stay here again if we are in the area.

Peace and tranquility in west Kerry
If you are looking for quiet, peace, and tranquility in a cozy, fully-equipped home, this is your place. It is far enough off the beaten path that the only sounds are the wind and the baas of the sheep in the surrounding fields (and occasionally the driveway -- lol), but the towns of Cahersiveen and Waterville are still just a short drive away. We ended every day of our stay snugged in next to the peat fire in the stove. The kitchen has anything you could need and then some (and we cook). The bed we used was reasonably comfortable, and there's all the hot water you could ask for in the shower. The house is cheerful with natural light and the views of the surrounding countryside from the windows are amazing. Both the property manager, Gillian, and the caretakers were responsive and helpful throughout our stay. If you don't enjoy quiet and solitude, this might not be the place for you. But if you need a place for your soul to breathe a sigh of relief and to set down the burdens of the busy outside world for a bit, then book a stay here.

Lovely quiet place to get away from it all
We had a delightful time: just the rest from our hectic lives we needed. Sunrises are marvelous and there's a broad view of the valley, plus easy access by car to local tourist attractions. Thank you, Gillian and the caretakers!

Loved our stay here. Well equipped, comfortable house in the most peaceful location we've ever stayed for a holiday. Yet really close to the Ring of Kerry and Skellig ring, beaches and more.

Peace quiet and tranquility
We arrived after a 6.5hr drive to the property and the hot tub was certainly a must earned treat. The home was clean and tidy all kitchen utilises supplied. The scenery was breath taking, lying up in the hot tub and looking out was truly amazing. Life is so busy these days we give ourselves no time to enjoy the simple things which is silence and time with our family. We enjoyed some of the activities in the local down of Waterville. Drove around some of the local villages and local beaches which again is like paradise. Only real advice would be to do a little research about the local additives we arrived the week of kids summer camp and I hadn’t booked kids in so activities where mostly booked up. We got amazing weather though so we where spoilt for choices and beaches. It’s about 10-15min drive to shop 🙈depending on how you drive so if your making a long journey and are able to bring milk and bread do lol after arriving we hadn’t brought milk and bread because the heat we where traveling in so to have to head out again and get milk after driving 6.5hours I felt sick. Look up seasynergy they have amazing activities and cater for all ages.

Disappointed
We had booked this particular property because it featured a hot tub. However on arrival we were told by a local (not the owner) that the hot tub wasn't working. The owner later emailed me to let us know. This problem was obviously known about before we arrived, but no one told us. Communication with owner was poor - we had to do all the chasing to find out what was happening. On fourth day a man came and put filter back in and scratched his head not knowing what else to do. We were very disappointed that the issue was not resolved while we were there. We received a E100 refund, not even the price of one night's stay, which seemed a little disingenuous. We had booked this particular house because of the hot tub, whereas we could have chosen from many other less expensive properties. It was like booking an equestrian holiday, only to be told when we got there that there were no horses, but the scenery is still lovely. No communication from owner after our stay at all. An appropriate gesture of goodwill would have helped our disappointment. Such a shame because it is a lovely house in a great location - was very clean, if somewhat dated in places, and had everything needed.

Gillian's home is just wonderful! The kitchen is fantastic and has everything you could need. The views are stunning from any window of the home, the beds are very comfy, and sitting in the hot tub at night you can see the stars so brightly. Our stay was great and I hope to return again.

Wonderful and peaceful
This is a lovely peaceful cottage to stay in for your trip to Kerry. It is in a great position for exploring the area, for which you will need a car. The kitchen was well equipped although some chipped crockery could do with replacing, and the dining area was comfortable and spacious for eating and for board game playing. The lounge has plenty of seating for a family of 4 although the sofas are not quite as inviting as they look in the photos. They are tired and old and covered with throws. The bedrooms were very comfortable and spacious, but the bathroom shower cubicles could do with a revamp as they are quite blackened with mould in places. Some hand soap at each sink would have been helpful. The views are absolutely breathtaking and the big windows in the lounge area help you to appreciate that even when the weather isn't so good. Relaxing in the hot tub after a day exploring the beautiful county of Kerry is something I'll never forget - its a fabulous way to totally chill out. Again the outside furniture does not look like it does in the photos, its tired and worn, but thats what happens to outside furniture, especially in Ireland! Gillian, the owner who was easily contactable by phone and email, was extremely kind, helpful and informative, before and during our stay. It would have been helpful to have had an easy way to contact the caretaker of the property who lived nearby however, as his visits were often a surprise and made me feel a little on edge for the week. But there were a few minor things that he needed to attend to that don't usually affect the property, it was just our bad luck! All in all, we loved the peace, tranquillity and comfort (and the hot tub!) of this cottage and would definitely recommend it.

A wonderful place to stay
We stayed at Gillian's beautiful home for 4 nights. There were 5 adults (two couples and a single) and we were perfectly comfortable in the three bedrooms. The interior of the house is beautiful with all the modern conveniences. Gillian has it perfectly decorated. The kitchen and dining room are state of the art with the best amenities. The bedrooms were big and roomy. The VRBO site only lists one bathroom and we were pleasantly surprised that the master bedroom also has a bathroom with a shower. The big draw was the hot tub. Our family took advantage of that every evening as we were winding down at the end of our day. The views were spectacular especially sitting in the hot tub. Gillian was great to work with and getting into the home worked perfectly. It is secluded and on the interior of the Ring of Kerry road. You cannot see another house from the location but you can hear the sheep. You definitely need a car to stay here. It was a pleasant and relaxing place to stay and our whole family would wholeheartedly recommend.

An amazing stay in a beautiful home and location
Just returned from a stay at Gillian's cottage in Waterville. Received great communication from Gillian from the moment we booked, including directions to find the cottage and information about the local area. The cottage was really spacious and very clean with comfortable furnishings and everything we could have possibly needed. The kitchen was large and well-equipped, the beds were comfy and very large and the DVD's, games and books kept our nephew occupied. We did meet the caretaker and neighbour, John, who kindly recommended places to visit nearby including the Ring of Kerry (highly recommended for beautiful sights)! Gillian also kindly offered us to stay an extra night free of charge, which was a really nice gesture. The hot tub was a real treat after a long day site-seeing. We will definitely be returning in the future.

Misty October on Kerry mountains and the hot tub was exactly what needed! Kids really enjoyed it, settled into house like they were at home. Hope to return and would def recommend if it's a break away from life that's required. Thank you for a lovely stay, in a clean, well kept warm house with great views.
