Lost on the Lake-Cozy Cottage with a Lakeview

The cottage on lost lake is cozy, serene, clean, and has all of the amenities of home, but away from the mad rush. Sitting on the deck and enjoying the 100 ft. Pines and taking in the lake view is the perfect escape from it all. The cottage is on a private road. It is accessible all year round. When you enter the cottage you are welcome by a large kitchen/ dining area, accompanied by a large living room area, all with tongue and groove vaulted ceiling. The cottage was lovingly built by a couple who live on the same lake. There is an immediate sense of serenity, and space. There are 2 bedrooms in the back. One is a Queen iron wrought bed with lovely oak furniture, many drawers, and large closets. The other has very new and solid full bunk beds with a twin trundle. In the living room, the couch is also a queen-size pull-out bed. There is one bath. It is really 2 rooms. The double sinks, and vanity, and washer and dryer are in a room adjoining the bathtub, shower, and commode. This property also includes a paddle boat, row boat, 2 canoes & 1 kayak.

For larger families looking for additional space, we also manage a property next door that could sleep another 4 people.

The deck has a small iron table and chairs to accommodate outdoor dining.

It is a walkout basement, with an adjoining dog kennel so that you can let the dog out in the middle of the night without having to suit up for a walk.
**PETS! Airbnb may only charge you for the 1st pet, you will be requested to send an additional $50 plus tax ($53) per pet. Our pet policy is $50/pet plus tax plus an additional one time cleaning charge of $30. If Airbnb does not collect this amount you are still responsible. We're respecting your pet, so please respect our pet policy. Clean up after your pet, please do not allow pets on furniture. Please keep kenneled if left alone. If your pet barks when you are gone, please do not leave it alone.

The lot will accommodate parking for a trailer, and a few cars. The entire property is 3 acres. Right off of the road are a number of trails that will lead you through the Hiawatha national forest. You can enjoy them by foot, snow mobile, snowshoe, cross country skiing, etc. Truly a place for all seasons. We would ask, out of courtesy for the neighbors. That snowmobilers would respect the 15 mile an hr. speed limit on the private road, and refrain from making noise with the snowmobiles after 10PM.

The cottage is set up with a phone and internet. There is a tv with a DVD player. There is a collection of DVDs to choose from.

Nice getaway
Overall the cottage was great! Neighbors were close but it still felt private. The deck was a peaceful place to enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning and watch the wildlife. The location was Close to restaurants and waterfalls. All the boats were in really nice condition however the row boat could not be used as the oar locks were broken, missing, or damaged. One canoe paddle was also duct taped together. The hill going down to the water was a little steep- nothing of concern if you are fit and steady - however if your gait is unsteady this may be a concern. There were some cleaning opportunities in that spider webs had not been addressed and some soap build up in the washing machine. We stayed for a week and needed to change out the TP however there was not a single extra roll. Overall a great location and I would go back and pack a roll of TP:)

Fun family trip including the dogs!
The location was great! It was very close to Munising. The dog run in the backyard was helpful. The property had a kayak, paddleboat, and a canoe. We had a great time on the quiet lake in the early morning. We didn't catch any fish but it was still a great time. We visited many nearby waterfalls and attractions during our stay. Thanks for a much-needed vacation!

Totally secluded, close to everything
We spent our 17th anniversary and everything was perfect. The dog run was perfect for quick pup trips in negative temps. We were able to get to Marquette, Pictured Rocks and Miners Castle with no problems even in late December. This was a charming house in a totally secluded neighborhood. We really enjoyed our stay.

Perfect get away for my family
This was the perfect rental for my family and our needs. The boats and lake front access were the best part and we had lots of fun. There was plenty of room for sleeping for us (4 adults and 2 kids). The upstairs and bedrooms were clean and there was plenty of clean bedding and towels. The only issue I had with cleanliness was the basement - there looked to be some trash but it wasn't a big deal to us because we only used it to access the outdoor kennel (which was also great so we could let our dog off leash for awhile). In response to the other reviews complaining about the musty smell - yes the basement did smell a little musty but that is normal for Michigan basements especially right by the water and I'm sure the owner does everything they can to keep it at bay as there was a dehumidifier and no leaks or standing water I could see. If you do book this rental make sure you get directions to the property and follow them don't listen to a map app! There are a lot of dirt roads going around the lakes and they don't all have through access. The place was nice and private and had everything you could need - boats, water, cooking appliances and utensils, firepit and grill. It is also near Munising and other places to explore including hiking/ATV trails. I also appreciated the owner reaching out to me to give directions and recommendations on things to do in the area. My only regret is not writing or reading in the guest book - we never had time because we were too busy relaxing and having fun. I would recommend this place for a good time both on the property and at any of the nearby attractions.

Peaceful location
Myself, my husband and our daughter stayed along with our two dogs. The location of the house is within 10-15 minutes from Munising in a wooded setting. It's very peaceful there, and just what we were looking for, as we didn't want a busy place right downtown. We weren't too far out for sightseeing everyday and then returning to the house to enjoy the beautiful view from the deck that overlooks the lake. We took two different boats out for fun. There were five, non-motorized boats, to choose from which was an added bonus to renting this house. Overall we really enjoyed our stay. We made lots of memories, and had many laughs. I would recommend this home to anyone and will definitely keep it on my mind to rent again in the future.

Nice quiet house on Lost Lake
My family of four had a good time at Lost Lake. Easy to find and about a 10 mile drive to Munising. The paddle and row boats were a great amenity to have to catch Northern! We did have to vacuum the floor upon arrival and wipe down some counter surfaces. The home overall could use a good "spring cleaning" to get rid of the cobwebs and dust bunnies. Unfortunately we were left with only 2 rolls of TP for a six night stay. These notes were left for the housekeeper as instructed. If you plan on cooking, the kitchen has just about everything you will need. Do bring your own basic seasonings as there were a lot of expired ones in the cupboard. The salts were from 2007 & 2011. Overall, a positive experience with some concerns of cleanliness. The lake is beautiful and quiet.

Dog friendly with beautiful views, a great location! But this home could use some sprucing up.
This home is charming and we loved the location. The view of the lake is gorgeous and the main part of the home really gives you that vacation feel. We also loved that it was dog friendly with a great walk out basement/ large fenced kennel. The home was a bit smelly, not unbearably so, probably from the well water and dampness. The biggest cause for concern was that there was a lot of expired medicine, spices, food. There were things that were as old as 2006. This included children's medicine. Also my husband was picking up our dogs poo and noticed several other people's dog poo that didn't belong to ours. He picked all that up too but we felt that it should have been previously cleaned up.

Quiet but not Quite
The Good: Very nice owner, very peaceful location, lots of potential, big enough for 4 adults. The Bad: The bed situation does not allow for a comfortable night of sleep (twins and a full). The big negative was the cleanliness, it was not tidy or clean at all. I feel bad stating this but it's the truth.

Potential
The cottage was very airy with a nice open common area. The deck was spacious and we enjoyed spending time on it. Unfortunately there were a number of things that, in our opinion, need to be addressed to bring this property up to its 5 star potential. 1. Communication issues: The owner did not use the VRBO app to provide any access or check in/out info. She did phone our home land line and left messages for us while we were on our way there saying she wasn't sure if we had been in contact about these procedures. Thinking that the app would suffice for conveying all necessary info, I provided our landline number to VRBO due to the fact that where we live we get sporadic wireless service. As we approached the cottage address and noticed no information, we also realized that we were losing cell coverage so we backtracked to a location with a cell signal and called her number only to hear that her voicemailbox was full. We attempted to contact her by text with no results so we decided to drive out to the cottage and see if perhaps there was some sort of message for us there. When we arrived, we found (after knocking several times) that the door was unlocked (along with a downstairs door) and the key was on a counter. The owner eventually called us and told us that we took the proper actions (we got cell service through her unsecured wi-fi network) The only checkout instruction we had was a note on the refrigerator saying be out by 11 am. 2.. Clutter: Closets were mostly filled with stuff, making it very difficult to find much space to hang our garments. The cabinets throughout were packed with stuff. In the bathroom it appeared that ever former visitor had left at least one over the counter medicine or other product so they were packed with partially used items. Luckily the bathroom counter had plenty of space to leave our toiletries on them without hindering our use of the sinks too much. The other cabinets looked like they never threw anything out. 3. Cleanliness: Could have used a thorough cleaning, fur was on the floor of the main living area. Some hair in the tub was left for us also. Cobwebs were also plentiful 4. Details: Only 1 adult life preserver among other things. (She did say she would reimburse us if we located and purchased another). Many worn, rusty or broken things. Bottom line: Lots of potential, I don't think as it sits now was worth the price we paid. With some effort it would be outstanding.

Great place
We had our family (me, husband and 2 kids) and my sister in law join us and it was a great property to stay at. Close to munising but not right in town. We loved using the boats and my son especially caught 2 big fish. The house is stocked with things in case you Forget. I would say the cleanliness wasn’t as great as others I’ve been to. But overall a great place to stay!

I had great communication with the owner who gave me easy directions to get to the cabin and great suggestions for places to visit as well. The cabin is just a short drive outside of Munising and we were able to check out all the attractions easily. My family of 5 loved the cabin. It had a beautiful view of the lake off the deck. My 12 year old son loved the canoes and huge sunnies he caught in the lake. The cabin had all the necessities and more. We had a wonderful experience and would definitely stay here again!

nice house
The house was just as advertised. Very comfortable. Everything worked (kitchen items, heat, wifi...). Great views from the outstanding deck and house. Quiet. The only negative was that the house was not clean. But as soon as we went in and noticed the issue we just spent a couple of hours cleaning and the rest of our stay was perfect. I would return for sure.
