Quiet Retreat tucked away close to beach with stunning views of bay/countryside

Saturday to Saturday booking in main 6 weeks of summer holidays,mid July to end of August other dates flexible with minimum of x four nights. Three bedroom chalet bungalow with ample parking for x 2/3 cars in a stunning location between Woolacombe and Mortehoe. Unique ,quiet, tucked in position being only 5 mins from the golden sands of Combesgate and 10 mins from Woolacombe Sands.
A 10 min amble up the hill, takes you to the quaint little coastal village of Mortehoe, hosting a choice of pubs and restaurants, a local shop and post office.
Plenty of alfresco dining, with large patio with beautiful seaviews. A large newly fitted kitchen diner enables one to host family and friends around the table.
Large lounge with bed settee, downstairs bedroom with patio doors links with small loo/shower-room and utility room.
Upstairs is king-sized bed-room and 2nd double bedroom, and large bathroom with Victorian deep bath.

Very enjoyable stay
The property is in a good location (a path provides a short walk to Combesgate Beach) with a wonderful views of Woolacombe Bay. The property is eco-friendly, with solar panels to provide energy. We found the property was comfortable, roomy and well supplied in all areas. It did take us a little time to get used to the induction stovetop the first night. Johnny was friendly and helpful. We very much enjoyed our week, and would like to return there again!

Brilliant views
Me and my friends stopped here for 4 nights. The house had everything you needed for a short or long stay and also had fantastic views! There were some lovely walks both within Woolacombe and also to Ilfracombe. John was also great and responded quickly to any questions we had. Would definitely recommend!

Wonderful stay
Our second year of visiting and we loved it again. The house is spacious and very clean with everything you need. The location is perfect for walking to the local beaches and there’s a huge choice of restaurants and takeaways. Johnny is friendly and helpful. Overall a perfect holiday.

Great location
We loved our stay at this property. The location was great with views across the bay and surrounding hills. The kids loved the local beaches, which were great for rock pooling. The house has everything you could need and John was on hand for any questions. I can definitely recommend.

Great days in a great place
We are from Dresden (Saxony, Germany) and were in Mortehoe (Devon) for 15 days and enjoyed it. The weather is typically English, but the huge sandy beach offers all kinds of opportunities to spend the time even in wind or rain. We can highly recommend the holiday home, for the following reasons. John our landlord is an absolutely nice guy. He immediately helped us with various problems. Whether pumping up the football, repairing the stroller or other tasks - John was there to help us with words and deeds. We were very happy to find this holiday home because, in addition to the beautiful location overlooking the bay, it was also well equipped with surfboards and bodyboards, which we could use freely. There is a small sneak path right next to the entrance down to the beach, so the sea is only a 7 minute walk away. A highlight for our children was watching the seals directly from land. This place on the Dragonstale Reef can also be reached by foot with children.

Lovely spacious property in great location with stunning views
The property is very spacious, well equipped & very comfortable (like home from home). Views from both patio areas are stunning. Lovely short walk to Woolacombe beach and Mortehoe as well as other coastal paths on the doorstep. Host Johnny very helpful & friendly. We had a great, relaxing week & will definitely be looking to return. Thank you.

What a Great place to stay
Very friendly host who was there as we arrived. Within walking distance to a number of great beaches and the view was amazing. a slightly darrow road up to the property but we made it in a Volvo xc90. Glad we booked and certsin we will ce coming again. Thank you for a wonderful stay

An absolute delight!
To be fair, I didn't really want to leave a review and the owner John is such a great bloke and the house is fabulous. Location incredible with no passing traffic yet so close to the beach. House was really relaxing and just a great space to chill with up to date equipment so easy to stay in if theres a rainy day. Well worth booking - you will not regret it.

Great located house with a beautiful sea view. 10 mins walk to Barricane Beach and 15 mins to Woolacombe beach. Plenty of space for our party of 8. Johnny was on hand if needed and really friendly and helpful.

Perfect location and fantastic host
What can one say about location? Beach… wow!!… nature… stunning. Perfect place for some amazing walks with seals below you in the water. Must do…. Go to Lundy island !! It’s stunning there. The cottage is perfectly positioned between woolacombe and Mortehoe. Great pubs in Mortehoe… go to the Chichester arms!! Overall a fantastic week with an extremely friendly host. Thanks Jonny. Everything we needed
Lovely spot on the hill. Nothing too fancy and had everything we needed. We had five adults and two kids, and plenty of room. The owner John is a local and is friendly, knowledgable, and helpful. Cracking views, easy walk to the beach, town, coast path, Woolacombe or Morthoe. The access road is narrow and could make some people nervous (e.g. US drivers), but it's Devon, so it's fine. We all enjoyed our stay.

Great location with superb views
We had a 10-day break in Mortehoe primarily to cycle, mountain bike and hike. Wish I had booked a month to enjoy the surrounding areas more. So many hike routes and mountain bike trails.

Great Holiday Home
John was always on hand to help or just chat. His home was more than enough for our family, we were four, myself and husband with an adult and teenage daughter. The room were all large and clean with enough room for at least four more of us. The location was perfect with breathtaking views, especially in the mornings, sitting on the patio watching the sea and also the green hills behind. We would stay here again and would recommend to all our friend and family. Thank you again John for welcoming us and making our stay perfect. Karen

Amazing week away in a fantastic location!
Our family of mixed age groups from 11-60+ really enjoyed our stay at this property. Fantastic location, very close to lovely beaches. The property was immaculate on arrival and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The views of the bay are incredible. Fantastic stay!
We really enjoyed our stay. As a family of five with three teenagers the house was perfect for us. The owner was a pleasure to deal with and the house was spotlessly clean. The house is bigger than it looks in the photos and the views are amazing. My husband and I spent a couple of hours every morning following the coastal paths admiring the stunning scenery and seal spotting. The afternoons were spent with the teenagers at the various beaches bodyboarding (all a short walk). The sea was clean and an excellent temperature. Would definitely return to both the location and the property.

Great secluded property with beautiful views, 5 minutes walk from the beach
Excellent host, great holiday for our family of 5 , my wife and I plus our 3 kids 18, 16, 15 loved it. Spacious clean house, comfy beads and well supplied kitchen. Beach fun, surfing and walking just on the door step at the quiet beaches of Combesgate and Gruntas. Nice couple of good pubs that served food just 10 minutes scenic walk up at Morthoe. Woolacombe village with shops, pubs and restaurants just 15-20 minutes easy walk along the beautiful seafront. Easy quick drive you Ilfracombe and the surrounding area. An added bonus was that our hot water and electricity came from solar power. If only more holiday property were as forward thinking. It's a thumbs up from us :-)

Perfect spot, great owner.
We had a wonderful time at this marvellous house. The owner really goes out of his way to make your stay special. We would highly recommend this property and location. Great hidden footpath for quick access to 2 very close beaches, lovely walks to the rear. Just perfect.

Lovely house in a great location with a fantastic host!
We had a lovely week at Jonny’s house in Morthoe. The house was a great size, really clean and in a brilliant location. The house is walking distance from Barricade Beach and Woolacombe. But also easy to jump in the car to Woolacombe if you have loads of beach gear! Our kids who are 8 and 2 loved it and we will definitely visit again,. Thanks Jonny!!

A little piece of paradise!
The property is located in a quiet, secluded spot looking down onto Woolacombe beach. It is a 15 minute walk to Woolacombe but close to 2 other beautiful beaches - which suited us fine. The property was well equipped with everything we needed for our stay. The views from the top terrace were perfect and a great place to eat breakfast or enjoy an evening G&T! The photos certainly don’t do the property justice and Johnny was a perfect host. Definitely want to revisit.
