Charming Riverside Cottage - Ideal for Families & Groups, Pool, Gardens & River

The Old Wharf Cottage is a beautiful thatched riverside retreat nestled between two islands on the picturesque banks of the River Thames. The house is situated minutes from the historic towns of Windsor and Eton, and is a great central base to explore famous locations and attractions such as Ascot race course, Thorpe park, Henley Royal Regatta and Central London.

Due to high demand the heated pool is now available from April till the end of Septmeber

Watch the river go by from your own private heated pool, Jacuzzi and decking areas. Enjoy dining al fresco by the riverside on two patios, or in the open plan kitchen/diner.

The Old Wharf Cottage was originally built in 1903 in the Edwardian Arts and Crafts style and has been lovingly maintained and constantly upgraded to a high standard. There are riverside lawns stretching down to a seating and dining area with wood fired Pizza oven and BBQ by the rivers edge.

You enter the house through the main entrance hall which leads upstairs via the oak staircase.

Off the first-floor landing, there is a substantial queen-size ensuite bedroom, with riverside views and balcony. There is one large ensuite twin bedroom, as well as good sized twin and double bedrooms with access to a large family bathroom. All three bathrooms are state of the art, two with walk in showers, hand basin and W.C. and the third, the family bathroom, has a large bath, walk in shower, W.C. and hand basin.

One highlight of the house is the third double bedroom, which is attached to the side of the house on brick arched supports and is constructed out of 19th century oak beams from one of the last pioneering ships bound for Australia and contains wooden carvings and unique features from this era. Please note this last room is a smaller double room accessed off the main staircase.

The ground floor consists of the entrance hall with separate W.C. and an open plan, fully equipped kitchen/diner with both a gas fired Aga and an electric cooker, perfect for entertaining or creating family meals. There are two lounges leading off the dining room, one a river lounge overlooking the Thames with double doors leading via a patio dining area, across the lawn. The second lounge is equipped with electric coal-effect fire, flatscreen smart TV with Netflix, a grand piano and chess set.

There are multiple board games available, as well as an outdoor ping pong table and croquet set. There is also a multipurpose play area for younger children and fencing for both the pool and river.

The 10m by 5m pool is heated in the summer months and the pool side and decking areas are great places for relaxing or enjoying the hot tub, right by the Royal River Thames. Please ask about the availability of the pool and hot tub heating outside of the summer months

The riverside views and gardens are a real highlight of this property. Positioned between two small islands, this is a beauty spot with fantastic opportunities for bird watching or just absorbing the river boating life and gentle atmosphere floating past. Elegant swans, ducks, kingfishers, herons and grebes are daily visitors. We can help organise boat trips to explore the Thames.

Ample private parking for multiple cars to the rear of the property which is bordered by picturesque cottage gardens.

We have good overground rail links close by, from both Slough and Wraysbury stations to central London, taking approximately 15 and 40 minutes to Paddington and Waterloo. Hatton Cross, on the Piccadilly underground line, provides access to all central London’s attractions, including Oxford Street and the West End Theatres, Soho, the Natural History and Science Museums, the Houses of Parliament, Madame Tussauds and many more. There are good air links from Heathrow (20 mins) and Gatwick and Luton (45 mins)

Windsor is only 10 minutes away by car or rail, with attractions such as Windsor Castle and the Great Park, Eton College, River Thames day cruises, as well as a host of restaurants and pubs and covered shopping. Also close by at Runnymede, on the other side of the River Thames, are the JFK, US Bar association and RAF memorials.

Wraysbury village’s local pub 'The George' is within a short walking distance and is a highly rated cozy eatery, perfect for a Sunday roast with inside and outside dining and bars.

Wraysbury village has a pharmacy, coffee shop, co-op, hardware store, cricket and football pitches, children’s play area, a Norman church and a second pub, the Perseverance, also serving good pub food.

The house is centrally heated, double glazed throughout, fully furnished and well equipped.

The Old Wharf Cottage is a beautiful holiday choice and is perfect for families and large groups. 5 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, sleeps 10. We look forward to hearing from you.

No Parties or Stag/Hen Do’s please.

Old Cottage in Wraysbury on the Themes
Family and friend gathering. 9 adults over 50 years old. We enjoyed being on the Themes and spent our time outside. The house is not meant for that many adults even though it has 5 bedrooms. Many of the beds were too short and one room is clearly a children’s room. The place needs some TLC on furniture, rugs, beds (sag in middle) and outdoor cleanliness…lots of spider webs. But that also adds to the charm. Things to note. One room has up and down steps to bathroom and a very narrow opening. We called it the Hobbit room. The on sight manager couple was so friendly and helpful! Such a bonus!! It is about a 15 minute drive to Windsor. We recommend you cook as the old kitchen is great and eat at George’s nearby. Enjoy!!

Family fun
A charming place with Hansel & Gretel touches to the architecture. The swimming pool and hot tub were a hit with our four granddaughters, and their parents. Highly recommend a walk in and around the area, picking blackberries in the meadows and to Magna Carta lane. A cozy living room for the family to gather in.

Lovely stay in a beautiful location
We stayed with 3generations of family for a long weekend. The house has lots of character and had a lovely garden and pool that was well used by all the family . Someone was available whenever we needed to ask any questions. We would definitely stay there again .

Wonderful in Old Windsor
We had an amazing stay at the Old Wharf Cottage in Windsor. The home is amazing and a wonderful location. We loved having the pool, bbq and area for croquet. It was easy to get around town with our rental car or Uber. The hosts were great and easy to connect with as needed. This was one of the key highlights of our two weeks in the UK. We recommend to others and hopefully will be able to return in the years to come. Kelley and Tenaja Lynch

River living
This property is located in a very quiet neighborhood with a nice outdoor area along the river Thames. The house is very rustic as a Cottage should be. The beds are very comfortable, but at night we got a little hot. The property manager brought us some fans which helped a lot. Uber availability was very good and the average cost to go to Windsor Castle was about $16. We did not do a lot of cooking, but when we did, we sat outside . We went to the Georges steakhouse, which is about 3/4 of a mile away for some excellent meals. Overall, I would come back again and recommend it to my friends and family.
