Good but not great
We stayed in this hotel many years ago when it was called the Monkbar Hotel. Back then, car parking wasn't a problem. However, there is a severe lack of spaces in the hotel, and it's difficult to find anything nearby. They also charge you £25 per day if you do happen to find a space in the hotel. The hotel was very nice. However, we arrived at 4pm to be told that our room wasn't ready as it had been cleaned but still had to be inspected. Thankfully, we only had to wait around 10 minutes before being allowed into our room. The room was very good, and we arranged to have a meal in the hotel restaurant later that night. The service in the restaurant was good, but the food that I got served wasn't what was ordered, e.g. curry with cashew nuts didn't have any cashew nuts in it. However, I didn't say anything as the food served to us was very good. We noticed later that there was no shower gel in the room. This was a shock, as it had been cleaned and inspected earlier (hence not being allowed into our room on time). The next morning, we spoke to a staff member on reception about the lack of shower gel, who advised that they would get this sorted. Later that night, I tried to have a shower only to find that there was still no shower gel. I spoke to reception the next morning, who also said that it would be sorted. Up to when we checked out the next day, the shower gel issue still hadn't been resolved. Although this was a nice hotel, small issues has lowered the score for me.

Room was very small for a double room, the room was very tired and not very clean. Breakfast was poor, waiting for food to be replenished, one of the waitresses was very rude and not to the standard required in this hotel. Stayed at this hotel quite alot however will need to improve for us to come back.

Lovely hotel. Room was quiet so got great sleep whilst there. Nice bar and restaurant. The staff were very helpful every time we needed something. Would definitely recommend staying here

Perfect for short stay close to town. Great king single beds in a twin room. Was travelling with my elderly mother so would always like to see a handrail in all showers.
