A lovely hotel in a great location. We had a well fitted disabled room in the Town House adjacent to the hotel.The bathroom was perfect with a shower, bath and lots of handles and there were 2 double beds. There was a bed and bowl for our dog with dogs allowed in most of the public areas of the hotel. Great staff, service and food too.

Lovely stay. Gorgeous large room for a family room - 2 doubles plus a cot. Felt really accommodated with young children. Just be careful that there are 5 Hilton’s in York so we went to the wrong one initially 🙃

Front staff friendly. Had room upgrade to deluxe room 220. Nice entrance bar and lower floor . Unfortunately the lifts was out of order and we was on the second floor. Breakfast was not to standard to the Hilton hotels we stop before with.

Lovely hotel.
Absolutely lovely hotel situated within easy walking distance of the minster and the shops. Hotel room was clean and cosy. Tea and coffee station which is always my favourite and warm cookies on arrival! Would definitely stay here again.

Parking chaos
At reception to check in as we couldn't find a parking space. There was a receptionist who had long blond hair and had only started the job a few days earlier. She tried very hard to be helpful and advise us about parking. We had just had a very long journey and was tired and stressed. The other receptionist was not as good. Spoke quite rudely to me and when i said i wasnt happy that we had to another car park and pay £20 and then move the car at 8am or pay even more she said well we would have chaged you £50 to park in here. I find this disgusting. We had already paid £245 which i think is far too expensive. To have the cheek to then try and charge £50 to park is disgraceful. Very stressful start to our stay in york. There wasnt even a biscuit to have with our cup of tea when we went to the room. The hotel is lovely and the breakfast was great but the parking situation is ridiculous. My husband then put the car in a space near the entrance door and the receptionist who had been rude said you cant keep it there. Those spaces are just for drop off. There was a car in the next space and it was still there the next morning so they obviously arent just for drop off. The blond receptionist was lovely and she will be an asset to the hotel. The other one needs some training in customer service. I realise that there isnt a lot you can do about the car park but that situation was not good and had a negative impact on us. If guests need to park they should not be asked for £50

I stay The Double Tree Hylton at least 4nights a year with 2 other quests for over 6yrs visitng York Races. Both rooms stunk of onion bargie also the corridor. There was rubbish left outside of the rooms what was removed after i complained later when we arrived back to ther rooms.We told reception about the smell in the morning to be told we was staying above an indians.When we returned to our rooms on the 2nd night our room door was left wide open by the cleaner. who had tried to remove the onion bargie smell.For next year will definatley not be booking ther again Very disappointed as this was our favourite hotel but not any more

Noisy all night and we were woken at 6am to doors banging and people running about. All the lights in the hotel had gone off, so we just had to sit and wait for it to get light so we could get up and leave.

Me and my partner came back to the hotel after been around the city during the day. We came back to freshen up and get ready for the night time but when attempting to get a shower, we weren’t able too as there wasn’t any hot water. We tried to ring down to reception but no one answered the phone. When telling the reception just before we left the hotel, all they said was they would let the manager know.

The room was ice cold upon arrival. We tried to turn on the radiator and that wasn't working. We called reception and they provided us with two portable heaters, as much as I appreciate the prompt alternative, it still took way too long to actually heat the room up.  We wanted to have a hot shower as well as to warm ourselves up to which we discovered we didn't have any at all. Both the water from the tap and the shower was barely even lukewarm.  We was absolutely freezing and about to head out to even colder weather.  We reported this to reception to which they told us they would send someone to our room to have a look, noone showed up. We had rang reception once again and nobody answered the phone.  We had to physically go to reception, baring in mind it was night time at this point and ask for an update to which the receptionist wasn't aware that nobody had come to our room.  I asked them whether or not it would be fixed by at least the time we came back from our night out, they wasn't sure and told us if it wasn't then they would provide us with a different room that isn't what we even paid for. We had a two double bed rooms and we was alternatively offered two separate rooms and would have to be split up. Completely unacceptable. The fact that we had no hot water and no central heating all day is absolutely pathetic, and when it did finally get fixed it was towards the end of the night.  The pillows were absolutely awful, didnt sleep well at all. Very disappointed
