We stayed ina small double which is what it stated but we were hardly in our room so it didnt matter.
Could not fault the friendliness of the staff and very helpful.
Cleanliness was impeccable
We booked to go to The Churchill at short notice having changed our plans at the last minute. Quite frankly we loved it - the hotel had loads of character and the staff were all really friendly and helpful. We loved the fact you can walk really easily into the minister and shops
A very warm welcome, nothing was too much trouble. All the staff we met were very friendly, the evening meal in the Brasserie was excellent, a stunning room.
A perfect location for a weekend in York, just a short walk to the centre.

Good hotel but didnt have a good sleeping experien
A good hotel in an excellent location for visiting the City of York.
The heating system banged so loud the first night waking us up every 10 minutes. On the second night the banging continued despite having been reported and it had to be shut down to stop the banging. The walls between bedrooms were very thin enabling us to hear word for word conversations in the adjoining room. Despite this we did enjoy our stay and the staff were lovely.
We only stayed for one night for my sons graduation We used to walk past the hotel on our way to visit him and admire the garden area with the Iglos all lit up in the winter. Although not quite ready to book as were being decorated for Xmas we were able to dine in one in the evening and it was magical. We really enjoyed the pizzas and also the breakfast in the morning, the dining areas inside are stunning. The staff were so friendly, cosy bar area, rooms lovely and beds comfy, the location is perfect too just a very short pleasant walk and you are in the centre. Cannot recommend highly enough. Our stay there added to an already special and memorable day. Value for money is so good why stay in a souless chain hotel when you can stay here!
Having stayed previously at The Churchill it was an easy choice to make this year on our annual trip to York.
The hotel is a leisurely 10 min stroll to the Minster.
We had been allocated a suite as we were staying 3 nights,it was beautiful, spotlessly clean, with toiletries and beverages to make you feel at home.
As before we had a cheese platter and drinks on our arrival in the hotel bar....so welcoming and relaxing.
ALL staff were exceptional, so friends and helpful, especially Ian on reception:) Breakfast is extra but well worth. Hotel restaurant very good too. The hotel outside is delightful at night, all lit up with outside pods, even a Pizza oven serving delicious pizzas. All in all First Class...Thank you The Churchill xx
The hotel is lovely and the staff were very freindly and attentive. The only thing we felt was a small issue was that the bathroom had rather a unpleasant smell of bad drains. I'm certain the staff would have addressed this immediately if we had gotten around to mentioning it, but it wasnt that big a deal in the grand scheme of things.
Didnt live up to expectations, very expensive, needs abit of TLC, specific cigar smoking area was being used for storage, cigar choice not available, very average for the money paid, over priced and under delivered!!! If paying 175 plus 18 parking for one night we expect something special.
We had booked a double room so were very pleasantly surprised to be upgraded on arrival to the Bridal Suite which was suitably impressive in size and furnishings with probably THE best bath you will likely find. The staff were all very friendly, courteous and helpful and The evening dining and bar are first rate (we did not try the breakfast) and equally well fitted out.
The suite lacked a fridge which would have been a welcome addition for keeping drinks cool (and some actual milk for the coffee rather than sachets would be nice) particularly in such a generous sized room and the road noise was prevalent through the night due to the double height single glazing of the suite but otherwise could not fault this hotel which lives up to the heritage of its name.
Would definitely recommend the Churchill Hotel as a great place to stay within easy walking distance of the centre.

Well , I don’t really know where to start . We had a two night stay and from the website really liked the look of this hotel and that it was only a five minute walk to the centre and had the added bonus of having its own car park . What we weren’t prepared for was how welcoming it was from setting foot in the door . Every member of staff we had the pleasure of meeting went above and beyond . Everyone was happy and smiling and obviously enjoyed their jobs . Absolute credit to the management who have made a wonderful homely cozy feel . Our room was exceptional as was our breakfast the following morning . Everywhere was spotlessly clean and reception staff gave us great pointers for places to visit and craft pubs we would never of found ourselves . Special thanks especially to John and Ian for making our stay perfect and be sure we will be back again ❤️ Roni and Gary Stocker
