After having stayed in a couple of bad hotels the previous two nights, we were super excited to arrive. The room was clean and the shower good. But the mattress on the bed was as old and hard as the floor in York Minster Cathedral. Literally painful. The bed was an old spring mattress with pillows equally hard. Could’ve been the perfect place, just desperately in need of new bedding.

Really nice property, very convenient to York city centre (including York Minster and the Shambles). Within walking distance from York station and plenty of dining options nearby. The bed was good, mattress seemed new, and the shower was very good. The room was a little warm during very hot periods, especially since the bedding was a covered duvet and no top sheet, and the walls were a bit thin for neighbour noise, but overall I had a good stay and would stay again.

Perfect.
Absolutely brilliant. The staff more than happy to help . The breakfast was absolutely gorgeous. The rooms clean tea and biscuits evey morning. Couldn't ask for more. Two minutes walk to york minster. Absolutely loved it will definitely book again

Great base for York visit

It's a lovely hotel, great staff, nice rooms, and a good location. Breakfasts were good. Our only issue was the stairs. There is no lift in the hotel. Staff carried our luggage up when we checked in and brought it down when we checked out which was greatly appreciated, but if someone has mobility issues, the stairs are a challenge.

Under the bed you could see was full of dust and there were dirty marks on headboard and seats. The curtains did not close full so politely asked for a bill dog clip or clothes peg at reception. The receptionist on duty never got up to look, never apologised for the issue…just said “we don’t have anything, no ones complained before”. Terrible attitude, I had to go to local sainsbury n buy hair clips! Also they got cooked breakfast order wrong

It is not a multi-storey concrete building. It is a lovely old townhouse converted into a very nice hotel.

Hotel in centre of York we were on top floor so number of stairs to do but we came down in morning and only went up when the day out was over . Car parking on site but it’s not free unless you book direct with hotel. But it was an asset -Reception staff lovely and Breakfast was heaven on a plate
