Altillo 9 Zahara de la Sierra
We expected the property to be a lot bigger and with much more light/windows as per the photo on the VRBO website. As it turned out, this was a much smaller, dark and rustic house. It is a typical old Spanish townhouse in a small village in a beautiful location. It is not a luxury place in any way. Everything is very old and dusty. The property owners were responsive and came to clean our bedroom and the upstairs. Very pleasant people tried to make us feel at home. We felt that if you went to Zahara for hiking and did not care about house comforts or did not expect to spent lots of time inside the house, this would be fin.e.We are both writers and wanted to stay in the house. The house has very few electrical outlets even for charging out computers, Ipads, etc. It is an old house, We were expecting a different type of lodging and we felt the description on VRBO website was totally misleading.

Fabulous host, wonderful home
A quaint home in a quaint white village! The host could not have been more kind and generous. The home was clean, well-equipped, and had lots of room for our group of 5. The location was perfect for hiking in the Grazalema Mountains. My only criticism would be that the beds were not as comfortable as most places we have rented on Vrbo.

Quiet yet vibrant location
Nice to be away from the plaza yet a short walk away. (Uphill on the back). The views & sunsets are wonderful from the property’s front door. Great fireplace. Nice space, very clean. Communication excellent, easy to check in & out. The town is very entertaining & dining out was excellent. We are bicyclists and loved the roads less traveled to surrounding towns. Easy access to stores, shops & butcher. Friendly community.

I had an absolutely wonderful time staying at this home! I grew up in a country town, and this reminded me of simple living. The photos on the website are accurate. All the necessities, except an oven, but comfy rooms. You will certainly get your exercise though as the home is atop steep streets and walkways. My girlfriend and I traveled the whole town which has spectacular views no matter were you go. This house is at the base of the castle in Zahara for amazing pictures. The house has no central heat it uses portable radiators that plug into outlets. They work very well. Very nice fireplace too. A great rustic feel to the house. The ceilings all have round wood beams for a real country home atmosphere. I would definitely rent this home again. The owners were soooo helpful. I couldn't have asked for more hospitable hosts. I would give this rental a 4.7 out of 5 stars. Very satisfied and sorry to leave.

Peaceful retreat in authentic village house
The view from the house is truly spectacular! We loved our stay in Casa del Altillo. It is located on a quiet pedestrian street. The owner, Alberto was punctual and very helpful. The beds and linens were adequate and the kitchen contained the basic cooking utensils that could have been cleaner. We stayed there for a week in November and the house was on the cold side. I imagine that it would be a very nice place to stay in the warmer months. All in all, we loved it. The village of Zahara de la Sierra is beautiful, authentic, friendly with a few good places to eat and drink. I would recommend it.
