Check location before booking!
I booked this for myself and a friend for a weekend break in Amsterdam.
When booking, I was only interested in Amsterdam apartments near the RAI Arena. We selected this on the map view of listings as it was stated as close to RAI Amsterdam and booked straight away.
The fees were paid in 2 instalments and no confirmation on the location was provided until we had paid. By which point, the first notice of location was given a couple days before flying out - turns out the location was in Zandvoort!
If you don't know, this is roughly an hour train away from where we thought we were staying. Needless to say, we never went to the apartment and had to book another accommodation once we had arrived.
Luckily, Motel One were more than happy to save the day and trip for us.
The receptionist there confirmed to us many places on platforms like VRBO falsely advertise they are based in Amsterdam to get people unwittingly booking their accommodation miles away from where they plan to stay.
As a man who is well travelled both in a professional and leisure capacity, I can honestly say I have never experienced anything as baffling as this before.
We are now disputing this with VRBO and taking matters into our own hands.
