This is my first time staying at a Riu and I thought since it is a new hotel with the option to upgrade to Elite it was going to be a good choice but what a mistake. We had a horrible experience. The front desk staff was no help at all. We booked the Elite Club and never received the gifts that came with that. I went to the front desk twice to let them now about this situation and both times they inly said that they will let the manager know bit never received the perks that came with the upgrade. The food was the worst part of our stay. Mediocre food and always cold. Very limited options for lunch, only the buffet which close at 3:00 and after that you only have low quality burgers and hot dogs by the pool until 6:00 when they open the specialty restaurants. The Mexican restaurant serve a buffet style appetizer section with the same seafood salads that they had for lunch the same day at the buffet. Main dishes vey simple, tacos and fajitas. The pozole tasteless, I’m not Mexican and I make a much better pozole. The Elite and Steak House restaurant serve lobster but they don’t even know how to cook it, always overcooked and chewy. All menus didn’t have many options. Overall, food was vey disappointing. Be very careful at check out because they came up with ridiculous fees. Please do yourself a favor and don’t waste your money at this hotel. Cancun has a lot to offer and lots of options. Worse hotel I stayed in Cancun. Will never come back.

Tienen solo dos restaurantes abiertos por noche y no te lo dicen cuando vas a reservar ,además le dan la opción de reservar a los huéspedes elites en esos dos restaurantes por lo que tratas de ir y no hay cupo o tienes que esperar mucho tiempo solo queda la opción del bufffet pagamos una habitación ocean view y no pudimos disfrutar de los restaurantes solo el buffet no entiendo porque le dan ese privilegio a los que pagan élite además de solo un restaurante para ellos hay muchos hoteles en la zona con mejores opciones y más restaurantes

This spot had everything! Amazing food, beautiful water, awesome staff, and insanely clean. My husband and I tried to think of something we would change and we couldn’t think of anything. 10/10
