Perfect place to stay!
Publié le 23 juill. 2017 sur HomeAwayWe stayed for 10 days in this very nice cottage. Wonderful place, very clean, confortable and decorated with lots of taste.
A lot to see in the area (and beyond of course): Cairngorms, Stirling, Edinburgh to name a few... Aberfeldy, the town nearby, is very nice with all we need (as well as good restaurants with very good recommandations from Elizabeth).
Last but not least we had the chance to see deers passing by near the house almost every night!
We were sad to leave the place...
Would recommend 100%!

Thanks Olivier that was a very nice review. I am so glad you enjoyed your stay. My son and I love visiting the cottage ourselves.: Its his favourite place too. Aberfeldy is a charming town - not too big and not too small to have on your doorstep. The deer do visit the garden because I have seen their hoof marks on various occasions. Best wishes Elizabeth

Un petit havre de paix
Publié le 2 sept. 2016 sur HomeAwayUne location typique comme on en voit presque plus en Ecosse. L'extérieur est tout simplement charmant avec ses espaces verts bien entretenus, sa façade en pierre et son toit de chaume superbe.
L'intérieur est soignée et décorée avec goût. L'équipement est parfait (ustensiles de cuisine, lave-vaisselle, lave-linge...). La salle de bain répond à tous les goûts (bains, balnéo, douche). Les literies sont très confortables. Bref, on se sent rapidement comme à la maison et on en redemande.
A louer sans réfléchir !!

Nice house terrible gardens

The garden and surroundings would be better described as an “overgrown wilderness.” The main website page showing the views of the garden and immediate surroundings are extremely misleading and bear no resemblance to the reality,

Perfect private cottage
Publié le 11 sept. 2021 sur HomeAwayFor ourselves, this was a perfect place to get away, totally private and extremely quiet. It's about 200m up a single track lane so you have to hope nobody is coming in the opposite when arriving or leaving. The garden in front of the cottage is totally enclosed so you cannot see the lane. The cottage is not large, but is very cosy and is ideally equipped. The Aga takes a bit of getting used to but there is also a small 2 ring electric hob if you do struggle. The Jacuzzi bath is a luxury, especially after a long walk. One thing to be aware of is that at night the area is in total darkness, so unless you put a light on you cannot see anything so a middle of the night toilet visit means feeling your way around trying not to bump into anything.
The nearest town of Aberfeldy about 5-10 minutes drive, has everything you require including a nice café serving coffee and cakes. If you enjoy walking there are plenty of walks in the area, including Dull Forrest which you can do from the cottage door. For a more challenging walk Schiehallion is about 20-25 minutes drive away.
Will deninitely try to return again next year.

We had very hot weather and found the cottage quite warm because we couldn’t turn the aga off-I’m sure most of the year this isn’t a problem!! It’s a perfect spot for exploring the local area, few minutes drive from Aberfeldy but in a very quiet spot. The garden was quite overgrown meaning our kids aged 9 and 4 couldn’t really explore as there were lots of nettles/thistles. The cottage is well equipped with everything you need making it a real home from home. Would happily return for another stay.

A very peaceful break
Publié le 2 août 2021 sur HomeAwayExtremely well equipped property in a beautiful location. Little tricky to locate the key safe and property itself (as no sign on gate etc). Nice change to use the AGA! Overal very relaxing stay.

There was a brass sign on the gate. I will look into this and replace if now missing. The pixie face has fallen from its usual place with the recent gales - so glad overall you enjoyed your stay at Smithy cottage. Elizabeth

Fabulous holiday
Publié le 24 juill. 2021 sur HomeAwayWe had a wonderful time, the cottage was rustic but had all mod cons. It was very well equipped and we loved cooking with the aga. We enjoyed sitting in the garden and saw some deer come through. We did some lovely walks from the cottage including walking to Dull a few times. Scenery was beautiful. We also enjoyed white water rafting with ‘Splash’ in Aberfeldy and managed to see the beavers. We would love to go back and highly recommend the cottage for a holiday.
