A wonderful retreat with a gorgeous backgarden view

Posted Feb. 25, 2024 on HomeAway
We loved our stay in Crafters West. Julie was terrific - always responsive and never intrusive. The cottage was private, extremely comfortable and with adorable touches that made it very enjoyable. We woke to the birds singing, and although we didn't see lots of fauna, the baaing of the local sheep was a delightful background to fabulous sunsets. Happily recommend this cottage. Also, we found the nearby Crafters Hotel wonderful for dinner, along with (the second night) the Stirling Hotel, a little further along the road. Great location for tastings, since it is near some very good wineries.

A wonderful place to stay

Posted Nov. 1, 2023 on HomeAway
If every place we traveled was as superb as this cottage, we would be super happy. The hosts are fascinating to talk with. They have a keen interest in exceeding our expectations and they were incredibly helpful. We left a plastic pitcher that we use to make nutritional supplements at the last place we stayed. Not only did Julie volunteer to go to the store to find us one, she would not let us pay for it. The cottage itself was really pretty and fully equipped. The area was just beautiful and we saw multiple koalas within a 5 minute walk of the cottage. The area teemed with a variety of birds. The ability to take walks in really pretty pastures was a bonus. The cottage was conveniently located to multiple national parks as well as the city of Adelaide. While we have traveled extensively in Australia previously, this was the first time we spent time in the Adelaide area. On our next trip, we plan to come back and stay a week in the cottage because it was such a great experience.

Stupendous stone cottage

Posted Sep. 21, 2023 on HomeAway
Words fail to describe what a lovely old stone cottage it was, and the same goes for Julie our host, who was 'next level' when it came to everything/anything you might wish for there. Have stayed at many nice places all over the world in my 80 some years, & Sophie's Cottage & Julie are at the top of my list. Truly exceptional in all respects. Rob & Carole

Beautiful cottage in the perfect country setting

Posted May 31, 2023 on HomeAway
The most beautiful cottage overlooking rolling hills with plenty of wildlife in the perfect location in the Adelaide Hills. Our host Julie was exceptional, making sure we arrived safely, gave great recommendations of the area and provided personal touches throughout the cottage, tailoring for our baby and our toddler. We all enjoyed our stay thoroughly and will certainly come back and recommend to our family and friends.

A Beautiful Hills Retreat

Posted Dec. 3, 2022 on HomeAway
Sophie's Cottage is in a most beautiful part of the Adelaide Hills with amazing views and very private. Julie has renovated the cottage to a very high standard and it feels very homely and inviting. She goes out of her way to help and make sure your stay is perfect in every way. Would certainly recommend to anyone to stay and hopefully we will return one day.

Couldn’t fault anything about the stay. Attention to detail, very generous provisions. Beautiful surroundings. Couldn’t recommend more highly. Not to be overlooked.

Delightful Adelaide Hills Cottage

Posted Jul. 4, 2022 on HomeAway
Our short break (2 nights) was everything we had wanted. The cottage was beautifully furnished with lots of little touches that made it special - chocolates and super soft dressing gowns - but it was the location that was the knockout. So close to the city you could see the lights, but so far away we were greeted by a mob of kangaroos, flocks of cockatoos and rosellas, plus magpies and kookaburras all visible outside the kitchen window. We could’ve easily stayed longer.

The hosts have gone to great lengths to make this cottage luxurious, welcoming, all while maintaining the charm of this historic farm cottage. Guests are welcomed with fresh produce, flowers, cooking supplies and all the amenities one needs for a comfortable stay. The fireplace makes it even more cosy and the view across the hills and to the sea is stunning. In the mornings we could catch glimpses of beautiful birds, roos and other wildlife. The proximity to other Adelaide Hills destinations such as restaurants and cellar doors is an added bonus. 10/10
