Publié le 25 nov. 2024 sur HomeAwayVery detailed instructions for all aspects of arrival and leaving. Reminders posted on doors for where items are located, how to utilize locks, etc. Great remindeds. Quick communication with host. Driveway is dark and curvy, as stated!

Yes, this is the place to stay if you want to get away from the lights and stimulation of city and suburb. It should and does feel like stepping back to a time when "dark skies" were a given, not a rarity. UVA observatory on Fan Mountain is very close by - located here purposely because the stars are quite visible without light pollution!

Quite and relaxing.

Weekend trip

The drive up the last part of the road was slightly terrifying, and the hurricane had washed out parts of the drive, so if you have a choice in vehicles bring the one with higher clearance and AWD.

It makes us so happy to please our guests! I want to correct a mis-perception created by this review, however. This visit was soon after the recent hurricane that did so much damage further south. Road repair crews from our less-impacted area were temporarily diverted to those emergency areas -- but were soon back. Road and driveway damage in our area was completed shortly thereafter. My sisters and I always drive our little low-clearance Priuses, and they work great.

Great cabin for groups

Beautiful Location

The location is remote enough to enjoy some quiet time and enjoy the surroundings, but close enough to venture out for hiking, fishing, and beer/wine tasting. The bedrooms are well situated so we weren't on top of each other. The covered porch and rocking chairs were the best part of the house!

Beautiful house
Publié le 10 juill. 2024 sur HomeAwayWe loved the house and the property! The drive there was longer then expected, but the directions were exact. We put balloons at the end of the driveway because it's slightly hidden. The house was beautiful! Loved the bedroom to bathroom ratio, which made it perfect for several families to share. The fridge needs updated, but it still worked out. The back porch and fire pit were huge hits for everyone! We will definitely be rebooking in two years!

Sisters Weekend

It was beautifully decorated, charming, and exceptionally clean!l

Excellent Get-Away
Publié le 28 mai 2024 sur HomeAwayWe loved the remoteness and rustic feel of the property/house! Great in accommodating our group of 12 - loved sitting on the front porch and lighting the fire pit. We were there for three nights and we did not watch the tv once - testament to how much fun we were having as a family. We also hiked and walked and visited vineyards, ciders and breweries! All in all, the property/house gave us the perfect platform and environment to have a very memorable 3 nights! Recommend without reservation, unless you want something more luxurious and a pool.
